This specification covers the requirements and quality assurance provisions for the loading, assembling and packing of the M936 Point Detonating Fuze. 2. 11、exemption has been obtained . 2.2 Order of precedence. In the event of a conflict between 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Material. Materials and parts shall be in accordance with applicable drawings and specifications. 3.2 Fuze assembly. The PD, M936 fuze assemblies shall comply with all requirements specified
12、 on drawing (dwg.) 9390425 and with al1 requirements specified in applicable specifications. 3.3 Transportation vibration. The fuze assembly shall comply with the requirements of MIL-STD-33iAI Test 119, Procedure 2, and of 3.4.1 and 3.4.2. 3.4 Ballistic Performance (Provinq Ground) . 3.4.1 Premature
13、 bursts. The fuze shall function on impact with the ground (as evidenced
14、 by cartridge high order functioning). 3.4.3 Armins safety. The fuze shall not function on impact against a 1/2 plywood screen positioned at a distance of 100 meters + 1 meter. - 3.5 Lead assembly output test. The lead assembly shall pierce a hole .220“ minimum in diameter in a lead disc (dwg. 88163
15、68). 3.6 Complete fuze leak test. The fuze shall have an air leakage rate no greater than 0.5 psi per 15 seconds. 3.7 First article. When specified in the contract or purchase order,a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection in accordance with the technical provisions herein. (see 4.3 a
16、nd 6.2) 3.8 Workmanship. All parts and.assemblies shall be fabricated in a thorough, workmanlike manner. They shall be free of burrs, sharp edges, cracks, dirt, rust and other foreign matter. The cleaning methods shall not be injurious to any part, nor shall the parts be contaminated by the cleaning
17、 agent. Exterior surface coatings shall be uniform and continuous except for a few light scratches not exposing base material. All required markings shall be neat and sharply defined. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or pur
18、chase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements speci
19、fied herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. Unless otherwise specified herein or i
20、n the contract, the provisions of MIL-A-48078 shall apply and are hereby made a part of this detail specification. 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items must meet all requirements of section 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overa

Inspection lots shall comply with the lot formation provisions of MIL-A-48078. In addition, each inspection

The inspection equipment required to perform the examination and tests prescribed herein is described in the Paragraph Reference/Inspection Method column in the tabl
39、es starting with 4.4.2.1. The contractor shall submit for approval inspection equipment designs in accordance with the-terms of the contract. See Section 6 of MIL-A-48078 and 6.3 of this specification. 4.5 Methods of insaection 4.5.1 Transportation vibration. The test shall be performed on complete
40、fuze assemblies (dwq. 9390425) in the unarmed position set SQ. The test shall be conducted in accordance with the procedures outlined in MIL-STD-331, Test 119, Procedure 2. Upon completion of the test, the fuzes shall not be disassembled but shall be x-rayed to determine if the fuze has armed, becom
41、e unsafe in any way, or has been damaged so as to not function. If so, that condition shall be classed as a test failure, and the ballistic sample shall not be fired. If the x-rays indicate the fuzes safe and operable, then they shall be assembled to 60MM, M302 rounds and fired at Charge O set SQ, a
42、s detailed in 4.5.4. 4.5.2 Lead assembly output test. The test shall be performed on the lead assembly (dwg. 9234683). A fixture shall be used to hold the lead assembly in central contact with the lead disc (dwg. 8816368). A ball (dwg. 8816014) shall be dropped a distance of five (5) inches onto a f
43、iring pin (dwg. 9200012) - distance is measured from the bottom of the ball to the top of the firing pin. The firing pin shall strike and initiate an M98 detonator (dwg. 9243921) which in turn will function the lead assembly. Observation shall be made for compliance with requirements as defined in 3
44、.6. Other suggested, but not mandatory, equipment which could be utilized in conjunction with this Set-up are: holder (dwg. 8816367) , bushing (dwg. 8827829) and base (dwg. 8802085). Government approval, of the test fixture to be used, is required. 4.5.3 Complete fuze leak test. This test shall be p
45、erformed on complete fuzes (dwg. 9390425). A fixture shall be used which covers the entire outer surface of the fuze with as little clearance as possible. The test shall be conducted at ambient temperature using 3 + 0.5 psi. Any sample which exhibits a pressure drop of more than 0.5 psi in 15 second
46、s minimum after stabilization shall be classed defective. A fixed volume of air shall be used so as to detect gross leaks. 47、 O a MIL-F-70613 (AR) 4.5.4 Performance test (proving ground ballistic). 4.5.4.1 Functioning test. The sample fuzes shall be assembled to 60mm, M302, series cartridges and fired from an appropriate mortar between 450 and 750 elevation. If any fuze fails to aause the shell to function high order, tha
48、t fuze shall be classified as defective. If any fuze in either SQ or Delay setting mode causes the round to function prematurely, that fuze shall be classified as having critical defect. The proving ground shall utilize a geophonic sensing device to differentiate superquick and delay functionings at maximum charge. 4.5.4.1.1 SQ phase. The sample fuzes shall be divided into two (2) equal groups. The groups shall be fired at Charge O set SQ and maximum charge set SQ. 4.5.4.1.2 Delay phase. The sample fuzes shall be divided into two (2) equal groups. The groups shal
