2、t, and Engineering Center and is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense (DoD). 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers fabricated components that are unique to the Food Sanitation Center (FSC) which will provide a means for effectively sanitizing utensil

3、s and serving equipment associated with the combat feeding system, in a field environment. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS (None) 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection in accordance with 4.1.1. 3.2 Design. materials. and manufact

4、uring processes. Unless otherwise specified, the design, materials, and manuacturing process selection is the prerogative of the contractor as long as all articles submitted to the Government fully meet the requirements specified herein. The sink interior dimensions shall be not less than 25 inches long, 24 inches wide and 14 inches deep.

9、The height of the sink, when mounted on the burner rack and base rack (see 6.9) shall be approximately 39 inches. 3.3.2 Sink drain. Each sink shall contain a drain and a drain ball-valve with a quick- disconnect coupling at the rear of the sink. 3.3.3 Sink interface. Each sink shall fit securely on

10、the burner rack (see 6.9) and shall interface with a drain hose quick-disconnect coupling. 3.3.4 Sink modularity. Sinks shall be capable of being utilized individually or in multiples of three sinks joined together. The method utilized to join the sinks together shall prevent spillage between the si

The sink shall withstand the direct heat from the burner unit (see 6.9). 3.3.6 Sink drainage. The sink drain shall p

13、ermit rapid drainage. 3.3.7 Sink leakage. Sinks shall not leak. 3.3.8 Sink cover. Sinks shall be provided with covers that minimize liquid splashing and the escape of steam and that have restricted lateral movement in any direction. 3.3.9 Sink cover. handle. Sink covers shall have a handle. The hand

14、le shall have an opening not less than 4 inches wide and 1 3/4 inches high. 3.3.10 Thermometer bracket. The thermometer bracket shall position a thermometer (see 6.9) to measure the temperature of the sink contents when the sink is filled to within 2 inches from the top. The bracket shall not interf

15、ere with washing operations. 3.3.11 Hoses. drain. A 1-sink and a 3-sink drain hose shall be provided. The hoses shall have quick-disconnect couplings and shall interface with the quick-disconnect coupling on the sink drain. The 3-sink drain hose shall be a single hose assembly that connects to 3 sin

16、ks and the hose shall extend not less than 50 feet from the sink. The 1-sink drain hose shall extend not less than 15 feet from the sink. 3.3.12 Hose. drain. drainage and leakage. The 1 -sink and 3-sink drain hose assemblies shall be capable of rapidly draining the sink contents and shall not leak.

17、3.3.13 Table. drain. size and configuration. The drain table shall have a surface area of approximately 9 square feet. The table shall be supported on one end and on the other end the table edge shall mate with either side edge of the sink. The table configuration shall prevent spillage of liquid fr

18、om the sides and the end that is away fiom the sink. The table supports shall be capable of being stored for transport. 3.3.14 Table. drain, drainage. When the drain table is joined to the sink edge and the supports are secured in the supportive position, liquids on the drain table shall quickly dra

19、in into the sink without leakage between the drain table and the sink. 3.3.1 5 Rack. sink. immersion. size and configuration. The sink immersion rack shall fit easily into the sink and shall accommodate utensils associated with food preparation and serving. Two handles shall extend above the top of

20、the rack. The sink

21、 immersion rack shall provide for the rapid drainage of water. 3.3.17 Rack set. storage and drying. The rack set shall have 3 stackable storage racks. When stacked, the racks shall interlock and shall not be able to move laterally in any direction. Each rack assembly shall have a volume of 16 shall

22、be provided with each storage rack. The shelf shall be able to function as a front cover and shall fasten to the front of the rack. The shelf shall support loads encountered in FSC operation without damage. The bottom, sides and rear of the storage rack, and the shelfkover shall allow for circulatio

23、n of air and drainage of water. 1 cubic feet. A removable height-adjustable shelf 3.3.18 Corrosion resistance. Components listed in table I shall be corrosion resistant. 3.3.19 Chemical resistance. Components listed in table I shall be resistant to the detergents and sanitizers used for washing and

24、sanitizing operations. 3.3.20 Safety. Components listed in table I shall be safe to set up , operate, and transport and shall not create personnel hazards. Burner unit heat and exhaust shall be directed away from the operator. 3.3.2 1 SanitatiodCleaning. Surfaces shall be smooth, washable, free of u

25、nnecessary ledges, projections or crevices, and readily accessible for cleaning. 3.4 Ownership and support reauirements. 3.4.1 Shelf life. The depot storage life shall be not less than 10 years. 3.4.2 Service life. The service life of the drain hoses shall be not less than 3 years of continuous use.

26、 All other components shall have a service life of not less than 5 years of continuous use in a field environment. 3.4.3 Durability. Repeated operational use shall not cause the components to leak, fracture, deform or undergo dimensional changes that prevent acceptable performance or prevent interfa

27、cing with associated assemblies/components. 3.4.4 Weight. The weight of the FSC components shall not exceed the weights specified in table I. 3.4.5 Interoperability and interchanpeability. The components listed in table I shall be functionally interoperable and physically interchangeable with compon

The components listed in table I shall operate and be fu

29、nctional in ambient temperatures from -25F to +125F. 4. VERIFICATION 4.1 Classifications of inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as first article inspection and conformance inspection. 4.1.1 First article inspection. When a first article inspection is required (se

30、e 3.1 and 6.2), the first article shall be examined and tested in accordance with table II. Sampling for fxst article inspection shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order (see 6.2). Conformance inspection includes those examinations and tests from table II, as defined in the contract or purchase order, performed on specified samples (see 6.2 and 6.7). 4.1.3 Certification comriliance examination. Certification, certified test reports, labels, or listing marks for standa

36、rds, submitted as proof of compliance with 3.2 and 4.3.3 shall be examined and validated (see 6.2). 4.2 Order of verification. Environmental tests shall be conducted prior to remaining verifications which may be conducted in any sequence. Sink and hose drainage and leakage tests and quick-disconnect

The types of verification methods may be visual inspection, measurement, sample tests, full-s

38、cale demonstration tests, simulation, modeling, engineering evaluation, component properties analysis, and similarity to previously-approved or previously- qualified designs. 4.3.1 Verification alternatives. The manufacturer may propose alternative test methods, techniques, or equipment, including t

39、he application of statistical process control, tool control, or cost-effective sampling procedures to veri performance. The contract may speci alternatives that replace verifications required by this specification (see 6.2) 4.3.2 OperatinP reauirements verification. 4.3.2.1 Sink size measurement Mea

40、sure and veri the interior dimensions of the sink. 4.3.2.2 Sink drain inspection. Visually inspect for a drain, a drain ball-valve and a quick- disconnect coupling. 4.3.2.3 Sink interface demonstration. Demonstrate that the sink can be securely mounted on the burner rack. Demonstrate that the drain

41、hose coupling can be connected to and disconnected fiom the sink drain in less than 1 minute. 4.3.2.4 Sink modularity demonstration. Demonstrate that three sinks can be joined together. Verify that the sink joining method does not allow leakage between the sinks. 4.3.2.5 Sink heating demonstration.

42、Demonstrate sink heating capability by mounting the sink on the burner and base racks and filling the sink with 20 gallons of water. The temperature of the water shall be 60F 2 5F. Ambient temperature during testing shall be 70F & 10F and wind velocity shall be not more than 2 mph. Sink water shall

43、be heated to 125F in not more than 25 minutes and then to 1 70F in not more than an additional 20 minutes. Veri the sink does not have damage caused by burner heat. 4.3.2.6 Sink drainage demonstration. Demonstrate the drainage capability of the sink by filling the sink with 20 gallons of water. Atta

44、ch a 1-sink drain hose assembly to the sink drain coupling. Open the sink drain valve completely. The water shall drain fiom the sink to a level less than 3/4 inch deep in 6 minutes or less. 4.3.2.7 Sink leakage inspection. Visually inspect the sink during and subsequent to the heating and drainage

45、demonstrations. Veri that leakage has not occurred. 4.3.2.8 Sink cover functional demonstration. Demonstrate that the cover, when placed on the sink, is restricted in lateral movement in any direction. Visually inspect the covedsink interface configuration and veri that it will minimize splashing an

Measure and ven the handle dimensions. 4.3.2.1 O Thermometer bracket functiona

Demonstrate that the thermometer bracket affixed to the fi-ont of a sink will place the thermometer (see 6.9) in a position to measure the temperature of sink contents when the sink is filled to within 2 inches fiom the top. Veri that the bracket will not interfere with washing oper

48、ations. 4.3.2.1 1 Hose. drain. interface demonstration. Demonstrate that the hose quick-disconnect couplings can be connected to the quick-disconnect couplings of the drain valve of the sinks in less then 1 minute. Measure the common 3-sink drain hose length and verifj that it extends not less than

49、50 feet from the sink. Measure the length of the 1-sink drain hose and veri that it extends not less than 15 feet fi-om the sink. 4.3.2.12 Hose. drain. drainage and leakage demonstration. Demonstrate the rate of drainage with the 3-sink drain hose connected to the sinks. Each sink shall be filled with 20 gallons of water. The sink drain valves shall be
