SCOPE 1.1 This specification covers the packaging and packing of navigation watches, pocket watches, wrist watches and stop watches

5、ls and methods. - The materials, methods and procedures used in the packaging of items shall be in accordance with this specification. Materiale and methods not covered by a specification shall be suited to the intended uee and subject to the approval af the cmtracting officer. Unless Provided by IH

7、 tainers shall be of a minimum size to adeauatelv contain the items. 3.3.1 LevelA 3.3.1 e 1 Cleaning. - The exterior surfaces shall be cleaned 80 as to be free from dirt, smudges, fingerprints and other foreign substance6 in accerd- ance with method C-1 of Specification MIL-P-116. I 3.3.1.2 Drying.

8、 Immediately after cleaning, items shall be dried thoroughly in accordance with any procedure specified in Specification MIL- I P-116 that will not damage the items. 1 Specification MIL-P-116 as described herein QF method U using a spirally wound fiber tube container . The rubber shock absorber and

The wrap shall be secured with pressure sensitive tape conforming to type I of Specification UU- T-106. around the watch prior to wrapping the watch with the neutral tissue and cush- ioning material. When a wrist watch is involved, the wrist strap shall be wrapped 3.3.1.3.2 Desiccant. - The

11、required units of disiccant conforming to I Snecification MLL-D-3444 shall be secured to the cushioned watch with ree- sure sensitive tape conforming to the tape specified in 3.3. l. 3. l. The re- quired mits of desiccant to be secured shall be determined by Formula I of I SDecification MIL-P-i 16.

16、ms with gummed tape conforming to class I of Specification UU-T-111. 3.3.1.3.6 Spirally wound fiber container. - A spirally wound fiber containe conforming to type J., grade B, style a, class I of Specification MIL-C-3955 can be used in lieu of the water-vaporproof bag and Set-up paperboard box spec

17、ified in 3.3.1.3.3 and 3.3.1.3.5. watch shall be cushioned as specified in 3.3.1.3.1 and the required units of desiccant to be immobilized in the container with the cushioned watch shall be as specified in 3.3.1 3.2, When a rubber shock absorber and leather chain ac campany a watch, the shijck absor

18、ber and chain shall be bagged as specified in 3.3.1.3.4 and the bag shall then be imrnDbilized in the container with the cush- ioned watch and desiccant. The spirally waund fiber container shall be machin closed in such a manner as to pass the quick leak test of Specification MIL-P-1 If the spirally

19、 wound fiber container is used, the e I 3.3.1.3.7 Intermediate packaging. - Ten unit packaged watches (watches oi immobilized in a fiberboard box conforming to compliance symbol W5s or W5c and any style, except FTC B? Specification PPP-B-636, class 2, Each fiber- board box shall be closed by applyin

20、g water -resistant pressure -sensitive tape at least two inches wide conforming to Specification PPP-T-76 over all seams including the manufacturer?s jJint. 3.3.2 Level B 3- 3.2-1 Cleaning and?drvine. - Cleaning and drying shall be as specified P-116, cant shall be omitted. 22、r. 3.5.3 Stock number. - The stock number to be added in the identification data shall be obtained from the contracting officer. 3.5.4 SpeciaI marking. - 3.5.4.1 Level of protectinn. - Shipping containers containing watches packaged for eve B or C protection, shall be conspicuousIy marked LTD MIL PK

23、G or MIN MIL PKG, as applicable. 3.5.5 Protecting oversea exterior container markings, - All oversea exterior cDntainer markings shali be protected with waterproofing material as specified in Standar MIL-STD-129. 36 Pilot pack. - Prior to- quantity production, a preproduction pack, consisting of a c

24、omplete and packed shipping container, shall be slibmitted to the Government inspector to determine conformance with the appiic.;.cbI.e re - quiremens of this specification for Levels A and B. 3,7 Workmanship. - Adequate controIs shall be utilized to check for c ,n - tamination of cleaning solvens.

QALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Inspection and tests. - The tests shall be accomplished by the con- .ractor or his agent under surveillance of the Government inspector. ;ion and test procedures shall be conducted in process. Inspec- I 4.2 Lot sizes. -The lot size submitted for
