Basis of Codification3.1 The designations for alloys and unalloyed metals arebased on their chemical composition limits.NOTE 1For unalloyed magnesium, magnesium-alloys, cast andwrought, standard limits for alloying elements and impurities are ex-pressed to the fol

9、.X,XX.X3.2 Designations shall be assigned, revised, and cancelledby Subcommittee B07.04 of ASTM Committee B07 on LightMetals and Alloys on written requests to its chairman. Com-plete chemical composition limits shall be submitted withrequest for assignment or revision of designations. Arbitraryassig

10、nments by other subcommittees or committees will not berecognized.4. Alloys4.1 Designation for alloys shall consist of not more than twoletters representing the alloying elements (Note 2) specified inthe greatest amount, arranged in order of decreasing percent-ages, or in alphabetical order if of eq

11、ual percentages, followedby the respective percentages rounded off to whole numbersand a serial letter (Notes 3). The full name of the base metalprecedes the designation, but it is omitted for brevity when thebase metal being referred to is obvious.NOTE 2For codification, an alloying element is defi
