Scope1.1 This specification covers mineral fiber therma

3、l insulat-ing materials in the form of dry cement, which, when mixedwith a suitable proportion of water, applied as a plastic mass,and dried in place, affords resistance to heat transmission onsurfaces operating at temperatures between 250 and 1900F(about 121 and 1038C).1.2 The values stated in inch

4、-pound units are to be regardedas standard. Terminology3.1 DefinitionsTerminology C

Materials and Manufacture4.1 Mineral fiber thermal insulating cement shall be com-posed of mineral fiber and inorganic fillers, with a suitableproportion of heat-resistant binder.4.2 The mineral fiber shall consist of rock

11、, slag, or glassprocessed from a molten state into fibrous form.4.3 Asbestos shall not be used as an ingredient or compo-nent part of the product.5. Other Requirements5.1 The cement shall conform to the requirements given inTable 1. Conformance shall be based on results of tests onspecimens prepared

12、 in accordance with 9.1.5.2 Maximum Use TemperatureWhen tested in accor-dance with 10.5, the dried cement shall not warp, flame, orglow during hot surface exposure. No evidence of melting orfiber degradation shall be evident upon post-test inspection.5.3 Non-combustibilityWhen tested in accordance w

Qualification Requirements6.1 The following requirements are employed for purposesof initial material o

16、r product qualification:6.1.1 Linear shrinkage, and6.1.2 Dry adhesion to steel.7. Sampling7.1 The cement shall be sampled, for the purpose of tests,using one of the following procedures. Unless otherwisespecified or agreed upon between the purchaser and themanufacturer or supplier, the cement shall

17、be sampled usingthe manufacturers standard procedure.7.1.1 Use Criteria C390. Each bag shall represent a unit.7.1.1.1 In a single sampling plan by attributes the accept-ability of a lot will be determined by the number of units ofproduct in the sample that do not conform to the specifications.The ac

18、ceptable quality level (AQL) and limiting quality level(LQL) of an acceptance sampling plan, expressed as percent-ages of the units nonconforming, are characteristics of thesampling plan and are not to be viewed as product specifica-tions.7.1.2 Use the average of the test data from the number oftest

19、 specimens required by the appropriate test method torepresent the average for the entire lot.7.2 The specimen for test is to be taken from the middle ofa bag, so as to be representative of material from the entire bag.8. Number of Tests and Retests8.1 If the average of the test data obtained using

20、7.1.2 failsto conform to the requirements of this specification, a secondsample shall be taken from the lot. Average the results of theretest with the results of the original test to determine compli-ance with this specification.9. Specimen Preparation9.1 Mix cement with water and mold, cure, dry, a

21、nd cut inaccordance with Practice C163, to produce the appropriate sizeand shape specimens for testing as specified below.10. 22、y10.4.1 The thermal conductivity as a function of tempera-ture for the representative specimens shall be determined withdata obtained from a series of thermal tests utilizing testmethods C177, C518,orC1114 as appropriate for the materialunder study. Specimen shall be tested at a maximum thicknessof

23、112 in. (38 mm).10.4.1.1 Test Method C518 shall not be used at tempera-tures or resistances other than those in the range of thecalibration.10.4.1.2 Test Method C1114 shall not be used at tempera-tures or resistance ranges other than those with comparableresults to Test Method C177.10.4.2 The test m

24、ethod selected shall have proven correla-tion with Test Method C177 over the temperature range ofconditions used. In cases of dispute, Test Method C177 shall beconsidered as the final authority for material having flatgeometry.10.4.3 Practice C1058 shall be used to obtain recommendedtest temperature

25、 combinations for testing purposes.10.4.4 As specified in Practice C1045, the range of testconditions must include at least one test where the hot surfacetemperature is greater than, or equal to, the hot limit of thetemperature range of desired data and at least one test wherethe cold surface temper

26、ature is less than, or equal to, the coldlimit of the temperature range desired. Additional tests, at leasttwo, shall be distributed somewhat evenly over the rest of thetemperature range.10.4.5 Conduct the final analysis of the thermal data inaccordance with Practice C1045 to generate a thermal cond

27、uc-tivity versus temperature relationship for the specimen.10.4.6 The final step of Practice C1045 analysis is tocalculate the thermal conductivity using the equations gener-ated at a set of mean temperatures for comparison to thespecification. WarningWhile it is recommended that thespecification da

28、ta be presented as thermal conductivity versustemperature, several existing specifications may contain meantemperature data from tests conducted at specific hot and coldsurface temperatures. In these cases, the thermal conductivityas a function of temperature from the Practice C1045 analysismay prov

29、ide different results. To insure that the data iscompatible, a Practice C680 analysis, using the thermal con-ductivity versus temperature relationship from Practice C1045and the specific hot and cold surface temperatures, is requiredto determine the effective thermal conductivity for comparisonto th

30、e specification requirements.10.5 Maximum Use TemperatureTest Method C411,attheinsulations maximum use temperature and at the manufactur-ers maximum recommended thickness at that temperature.The test surface shall be at the intended surface temperaturewhen test begins. No special requirements for he

Rejection and Rehearing12.1 Failure to conform to the requirements in this specifi-cation shall constitute cause for rejection. Rejec

35、tion shall bereported to the manufacturer or supplier promptly and inwriting.12.2 In case of rejection, the manufacturer or supplier shallhave the right to reinspect the rejected shipment and resubmitthe lot after removal of that portion not conforming to thespecified requirements.13. Certification1

36、3.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, thepurchaser shall be furnished certification that samples repre-senting each lot have been either tested or inspected as directedin this specification and the requirements have been met. Whenspecified in the purchase order or contract, a report

37、of the testresults shall be furnished.14. Packaging14.1 Unless otherwise specified or agreed upon by thepurchaser and the manufacturer or supplier, the cement shall bepackaged in the manufacturers standard commercial contain-ers.15.
