ASTM D2978-2015 Standard Test Methods for Volume of Processed Peat Materials《经加工泥炭材料体积的标准试验方法》.pdf

、Designation: D2978 15Standard Test Methods forVolume of Processed Peat Materials1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D2978; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A number in pare

、ntheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope*1.1 These test methods cover the measurement of thevolume of loose and baled processed peat expressed as cubicfeet and is used as a quality control meas

、urement to determineif the package contains the labeled amount of material. Theresults of these test methods are highly dependent on theexperience of the personnel running the procedure.1.2 There are two test methods, Method A for Loose Peatand Method B for Baled Peat. Method A is used when themater

、ial is uncompacted and Method B is used when thematerial is compacted.1.3 UnitsThe values stated in inch-pound units are to beregarded as standard. Except, that the sieve designations aretypically identified using the “alternative” system in accor-dance with Practice E11, such as 3-in. and No. 200,

、instead ofthe “standard” of 75-mm and 75-m, respectively.1.4 All observed and calculated values shall conform to theguidelines for significant digits and rounding established inPractice D6026.1.4.1 The procedures used to specify how data are collected/recorded or calculated in this standard are rega

、rded as theindustry standard. In addition, they are representative of thesignificant digits that generally should be retained. The proce-dures used do not consider material variation, purpose forobtaining the data, special purpose studies, or any consider-ations for the users objectives; and it is c

、ommon practice toincrease or reduce significant digits of reported data to becommensurate with these considerations. It is beyond the scopeof this standard to consider significant digits used in analysismethods for engineering design.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety con

It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.2. Summary of Test Method4.1 These test methods cons

、ist of either measuring the outerdimensions of compacted peat (Method B) or dividing theparticles of uncompacted peat (Method A) by passing themthrough a12-in. (12.5-mm) sieve and allowing them to fall intoa volume-measuring container.5. Significance and Use5.1 These test methods are used to quantif

、y the volume ofpeats under consideration in commercial transactions to deter-mine if the package contains the labeled quantity. As such, material comes into the test area in an “as sold” condition.NOTE 1The quality of the result produced by this standard isdependent on the competence of the personnel

、 performing it, and thesuitability of the equipment and facilities used. Agencies that meet thecriteria of Practice D3740 are generally considered capable of competentand objective testing/sampling/inspection/etc. Users of this standard arecautioned that compliance with Practice D3740 does not in it
