Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.INTRODUCTIONThis guide has been prepared to aid in the writing of material standards using the ClassificationD 4000 format. The inclusion or exclusion of recycledplastics in this classification system must be addressed here.1.2 The properties included in this standard are thoserequired to identify the compositions covered. There may beother requirements necessary to identify particular character-istics important to sp

These may bespecified by using the suffixes as given in Section 5.1.3 This classification system and subsequent line callout(specification) are intended to provide a means of calling outplastic materials used in the fabrication of end items or parts. It is not intended for the
6、 selection of materials. Materialselection should be made by those having expertise in theplastic field after careful consideration of the design and theperformance required of the part, the environment to which itwill be exposed, the fabrication process to be employed, thecosts involved, and the in

Classification4.1 _ materials are classified into groups according totheir compositio

The property table should contain a footnote referringto Section _ for reference to specimen source and prepara-tion.NOTE 3An

The grade is identified by asingle letter that indicates the filler or reinforcement used andtwo digits, in multiples of 5, that indicate the nominal quantityin percent by weight. Thus, a g

If necessary, additional callout of these reinforce-ments and additives can be accomplished by use of the suffix part of thesystem (see Section 5).4.

Sampling8.1 Sampling shall be statistically adequate to satisfy therequirements of 12.4.8.2 A batch or lot shall be constituted as a unit of manufac-ture as prepared

Inspection frequency shall be adequate to ensure thematerial is certifiable in accordance with 12.4.12.4 Certification shall be that the material was manufac-tured by a process in statistical control, sampled, tested, andinspected in accordance with this classification system, andtha
42、t the average values for the lot meet the requirements of thespecification (line callout).12.5 A report of test results shall be furnished when re-quested. The report shall consist of results of the lot-acceptanceinspection for the shipment and the results of the most recentperiodic-check inspection
