Panel Evaluation7.1 Visually inspect t

、he lining surface of all panels beforethe test exposure for the presence of voids and cracks, and forblisters or loss of adhesion as described in 7.3.7.1.1 Any effects related to and limited to the edges of thepanel should be so noted, since they may not representperformance in actual applications.7

、.2 Measure and record thickness of the lining in accor-dance with 5.3.1.7.3 The panel should be examined for the following effects:7.3.1 Blistering should be evaluated in accordance with TestMethod D 714 and recorded.7.3.2 Hardness should be evaluated in accordance with TestMethod D 1474 and recorde

、d.7.3.3 Some linings may not give clear visual indication ofblisters. Blisters may be detected by lightly tapping the surfaceof the lining with a fingernail or small metal object. Where ablister or loss of adhesion has occurred, the sound will changefrom a solid tap to a more hollow sound. The appar

、ent edges ofa blistered or delaminated area or any other heat caused defectsuch as pinholing or cratering should be recorded as to exactlocation.D 6137 97 (2004)27.3.4 The lining shall be examined for cracking, checking, and flaking, and the results recorded. Test Method D 661 forcracking, D 660 for

、checking and D 772 for flaking may bereferred to for visual ratings.7.4 For the final evaluation, the lining shall be forciblyremoved from an area of the panel approximately 1 by 2 in.(2.5 cm by 50 cm) using a knife or hammer and chisel toqualitatively evaluate adhesion and condition of the substrat

、e.This procedure will also determine whether blistering or loss ofadhesion occurred between coats or at the surface of thesubstrate.7.4.1 The surface of the lining shall be scored and evaluatedin accordance with Test Methods D 4138 to determine theapparent depth of discoloration due to acid attack.7

、.4.2 In addition, if the panel was scribed, an area of thelining adjacent to the scribe shall be pried or chiseled off todetermine the extent of undercutting, both above and below theliquid level.8. Report8.1 Report the following information:8.1.1 Lining manufacturers name, product designation, batch

、 numbers, and generic type,8.1.2 Description of panel preparation including the result-ing depth of profile and degree of cleanliness,8.1.3 A description of equipment and procedures used inapplication of the lining,8.1.4 Curing/Conditioning procedure,8.1.5 Results of visual inspections and thickness

、 measure-ments,8.1.6 Test temperature,8.1.7 The results of each interim inspection as outlined inSection 7, and8.1.8 The final evaluation shall include an appraisal of theadhesion of the lining in accordance with 7.4 and the depth ofsurface discoloration.9. Precision and Bias9.1 This test method is

、as specific as possible in establishingreproducible methods and procedures. Final test results andreport however, depend upon visual observations and subjec-tive evaluation.10.
