The need for this practice was establishedby ASTM Subcommittee D35.02 with the objective to provide a group of related standards for defining test procedurespecifications for chemical resistance studies covering various kinds of geosynthetics. The purpose of such testing is to assess theeffects of immersion in liquid waste, leachate, or chemical on geosynthetic materials and products, which will contact the fluidsin a waste containment facility.
