1、Designation: D7349/D7349M 11Standard Test Method forDetermining the Capability of Roofing and WaterproofingMaterials to Seal around Fasteners1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D7349/D7349M; the number immediately following the designation indicates theyear of original adoption or,
2、in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of lastreapproval. A superscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This qualitative test method determines the capability ofasphalt-based roofing or
3、 waterproofing material to seal arounda fastener that penetrates the material and prevent transmissionof liquid water through the material at the penetration underdefined conditions.1.2 This test method is provided for adoption by ASTM orother consensus-based roofing and waterproofing productspecifi

Performance of this test method aftersubjecting the product to conditioning intended to simulateenvironmental stresses and strains is not prohibited.1.3 The text of this test method references notes andfootnotes which p

These notes andfootnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shall not beconsidered as requirements of the standard.1.4 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineach system may not be exact

Combiningvalues from the two systems may result in non-conformancewith the standard.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsibility of the u

Terminology3.1 DefinitionsFor definitions of terms used in this testmethod, refer to Terminology D1079.4. Summary
9、 of Test Method4.1 The capability of asphalt-based roofing or waterproofingmaterials to seal around a penetrating fastener and prevent thepassage of liquid water at the fastener/material interface isdetermined by penetrating the material with a fastener, erectinga water column over that penetration,
10、 and monitoring theassembly for water passage for a period of time.4.2 The test method includes protocols that establish levelsfor the test method parameters. The protocol used to evaluatea material is designated in a standard specification for thematerial or by the user of this test method.5. Signi
11、ficance and Use5.1 In some situations, penetration through asphalt-basedroofing or waterproofing materials by fasteners is a requiredpart of the material installation process or occurs duringinstallation of other system components. When fasteners pen-etrate the material as a purposeful and planned p
12、art of theconstruction process, it is reasonable to expect that materialsdesigned to limit migration of liquid water at the interfacebetween the penetrating fastener and the material will do so.This qualitative test method provides a means to evaluate theability of a material to limit water migratio
