3、made from closed-cell polypropylene foam materialshaving suitable compressibility, recovery from compression,nonextruding, and weather-resistant characteristics.1.1.1 Type I, closed-cell polypropylene foam.1.2 These joint fillers are intended for use in concretepavements in full-depth joints. 4、are several variations insize with typical thicknesses of12 in. (12.7 mm),34 in.(19.05 mm), and 1 in. (25.4 mm); typical widths of 312 in.(88.9 mm), 4 in. (101.6 mm), 5 in. (127 mm), 6 in.(152.5 mm), 7 in. (177.8 mm), 8 in. (203.2 mm), or 48 in.(1.2 m) sheet; and typical lengths of 5 ft (1.52 m) and

Physical Properties4.1 Compressive StrengthThe load r

10、equired to compressthe test specimen to 50 % of its original thickness before testshall not be less than 30 psi nor greater than 60 psi.4.2 RecoveryAfter compressing the test specimen to 50 %of its original thickness before test, the load shall be released;and 10 min after release of the load, the s

11、pecimen shall haverecovered to at least 80 % of its thickness before test.4.3 ExtrusionWhen a12-in. (12.7-mm) thick test speci-men is compressed to 50 % of its original thickness with threeof its edges restrained, the free edge shall extrude not morethan 0.1 in. (2.54 mm).4.4 DensityThe density of a

12、ir-dried filler material shallnot be less than 3.5 lb ft3(56.06 kg m3).4.5 Water AbsorptionThe standard expansion joint fillertest specimen with four square-cut edges, when submergedhorizontally under 1 in. (25.4 mm) water at 70 6 5 F (21.1 63 C), shall absorb not more than 1 % volume % in 24 h forn

18、 Permissible Variations5.1 Expansion joint filler units shall conform to dimensionsas specified on plans within the following permissible varia-tions:5.1.1 Thickness, 6116 in. (61.6 mm).5.1.2 Width, 618 in. (63.2 mm).5.1.3 Length, 612 in. (612.7 mm).6. Sampling6.1 Size of SamplesEach sample shall co

19、nsist of sufficientmaterial to provide at least ten test specimens measuring 4 in.by 4 in. (101.6 mm by 101.6 mm), or as required by the useragency. Unless otherwise specified under applicable testmethod, test specimens shall be the same thickness as theexpansion joint filler units to be installed.6

20、.2 Number of SamplesSelect one representative samplefrom each shipment of material capable of filling 5000 linear ft(1524 m) of expansion joint filler.7.
