Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This guide provides a common format for mechanicaltest data for composite materials for

3、 two purposes: (1)toestablish data reporting requirements for test methods and (2)to provide information for the design of material propertydatabases. This guide should be used in combination withGuide E 1309 which provides similar information to identifythe composite material tested.1.2 These guide

4、lines are specific to mechanical tests ofhigh-modulus fiber-reinforced composite materials. Types oftests considered in this guide include tension, compression,shear, flexure, open/filled hole,2bearing, fracture toughness,and fatigue. The ASTM standards for which this guide wasdeveloped are listed i

5、n 2.1. The guidelines may also be usefulfor additional tests or materials.1.3 This guide is the second part of a modular approach forwhich the first part is Guide E 1309. Guide E 1309 serves toidentify the material, and this guide serves to describe me-chanical testing procedures and variables and t

6、o record results.The interaction of this guide with Guide E 1309 is emphasizedby the common numbering of data elements. Data ElementsA1through G13 are included in Guide E 1309 and numbering dataelements in this guide begins with H1.1.4 This guide with Guide E 1309 may be referenced by thedata-report

7、ing section of a test method to provide commondata-reporting requirements for the types of tests listed in 1.2.1.5 From this information and Guide E 1309, the databasedesigner should be able to construct the data dictionarypreparatory to developing a database schema.1.6 Data elements in this guide a

8、re relevant to test data, dataas obtained in the test laboratory and historically recorded inlab notebooks. Significance and Use4.1 This guide provides recommended standard formats forthe computerization of mechanical test data for a range of testmethods for high-modulus fiber-reinforced composite materi-als. The types of mechanical tests considered are tension,compr

28、ession, shear, flexure, open/filled hole, bearing, fracturetoughness, and fatigue. The ASTM standards for which thisguide was developed are listed in 2.1. The recommendedformats are not limited in use to these test methods. There areother test methods for which these recommended formats maybe useful

29、.4.2 Comparison of data from various sources will be mostmeaningful if all of the elements are available.4.3 The intent is to provide sufficient detail that values areknown for the testing variables that may influence the results.The motivation for this guide is the steadily increasing use ofcompute

30、rized databases. However, this guide is equally appro-priate for data stored in a hard-copy form.4.4 This format is for mechanical test data for high-modulusfiber-reinforced composites only. It does not include therecommended material description or the presentation of otherspecific types of test da

31、ta (such as fracture toughness testresults). These items are covered by separate formats to bereferenced in material specifications or other test standards.5. Data Reporting5.1 This guide is intended to provide common data-reporting requirements for the documents listed in 1.2. Eachdocument will ref

32、erence this guide and identify any usagespecific to that document in the data-reporting section. Forexample, Test Method D 3410 requires that the transition strainbe reported as the progressive damage parameter. Theserequirements do not mean that the information must bereported separately for each s

33、pecimen. Any data elements thatare the same for a series of specimens may be reported once forthe entire series, as long as it is clearly indicated that they applyto all specimens.5.2 The levels of requirement defined in Section 8 andidentified in Table 1 apply to the data reporting for theappropria

34、te test type: tension, compression, shear, flexure,open/filled hole, bearing, fracture toughness, and fatigue.
