Using the essential

3、 data elements will provide a basis for theestablishment of this record. Optional data elements may be used to accomplish various levels ofcompliance that may be required by the owners of the equipment.1. Scope1.1 This practice is not intended to be used for the creationof material records.1.2 This

4、practice presents both essential and optional dataelements contained within an equipment record.1.3 Essential data elements are requisite and shall be in-cluded in a equipment record to ensure efficient, effectivemanagement and control of equipment and to provide infor-mation regarding the status to

5、 management, users, or custom-ers.1.4 Optional data elements are applicable to equipmentrecords depending upon the needs of the entity. Not all optionaldata elements are required or applicable to all entities.1.5 The division of data elements into essential and optionaldata elements allows this prac

18、e of equipment during the lifecycle (for example, active, excess, surplus, or retired).3.1.22 unit of measure, nsingle quantity or determinateamount adopted as a standard of measurement for otheramounts or quantities of the same kind.3.1.23 user, nthe person utilizing the equipment duringday to day

19、operation.3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 equipment, na tangible asset that is functionallycomplete for its intended purpose, is durable, and is nonex-pendable; equipment does not ordinarily lose its identity orbecome a component part of another article when put into use.3.2

20、.2 identification (ID) number, nthe assignment of anumber by which one or more of the following can beascertained: ownership, classification, part, serial, model, de-scription, contract, or unique organization designation.4. Summary of Practice4.1 The equipment record provides a compilation of bothe

21、ssential and optional data elements.4.2 This is a practice for data elements included in therecord, not the data entered into the record. For example, ifinformation regarding an essential data element is unknown,the entry will be “unknown” or similar.4.3 The equipment data elements for individual re

22、cordrequirements are based upon the legal obligation with theowner of the equipment.5. Significance and Use5.1 Essential data elements shall be included in the equip-ment record to provide efficient and effective management ofproperty.5.2 Optional data elements are part of the record dependingon the

23、 entitys need or owners requirements, or both. Optionaldata elements are not limited to those cited in this practice.5.3 Use of this practice will result in greater efficiency in themanagement of equipment including its monitoring, perfor-mance of physical inventories, self assessments, disposition,

24、etc.6. Data Elements6.1 Essential Data ElementsEssential data elements thatshall be used in equipment record(s). They are:6.1.1 Identification number (unique or equivalent),6.1.2 Description,6.1.3 Receipt date,6.1.4 Unit acquisition cost, and6.1.5 Location.6.2 Optional Data ElementsOptional data ele
