4、 practice covers the factors that are required to becontrolled while installing thick poured gypsum concreteunderlayment as a base for resilient flooring.1.3 This practice does not cover the structural adequacy ofthe wood structural panel subfloor or concrete subfloor. 6、.5 Thick poured gypsum concrete underlayments are notsuitable for use on concrete slabs on ground due to potentialmoisture problems arising from moisture intrusion, unless anadequate vapor retarder or vapor barrier is present directlybeneath the concrete subfloor.1.6 The values stated in inch-pound

Terminology3.1
10、 DefinitionsDefinitions used in this practice shall be inaccordance with Terminology F 141.3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 fully adhered flooring, nresilient flooring which hasadhesive under the entire product, bonding it to the underlay-ment surface. Significance and Use4.1 This practice provides minimum recommendations forthe installation of thick poured gypsum concrete floor under-layments suitable to receive resilient floor coverings. Thispractice establishes the proper preparation, installation andquality control for t
19、hick poured gypsum concrete floor under-layments.4.2 Actual requirements for thick poured gypsum concreteunderlayments are generally included as part of project plans orspecifications and may vary from the recommendations setforth in this practice. Project plans or specifications, or both,shall supe
20、rsede the recommendations set forth in this practice.5. Product Requirements5.1 For the purposes of this practice, thick poured gypsumconcrete underlayment shall be compounds consisting prima-rily of a mixture of gypsum cement, Portland cement and sand.5.2 When tested in accordance with Test Methods
21、 C 472,thick poured gypsum concrete underlayment shall have aminimum compressive strength of 2000 psi (13.8 MPa) for useover wood subfloor and 3000 psi (20.7 MPa) for use overconcrete subfloors.5.3 When tested in accordance with Test Methods C 472,the density shall be a minimum of 105 pcf (1680 kg/m

Storage and Handling of Thick Poured GypsumConcrete Underlayments6.1 Thick poured gypsum concrete underlayments includedin this practice are typically delivered to the jobsites as drypowder in bags on pallets. Product shall be delivered inoriginal, unopened, undamaged bags with identification l
23、abelsintact. Bags and the enclosed material should not be damagedand should be protected from the elements after delivery to thejobsite. To avoid damage, bring raw materials to the jobsite justprior to the time it will be needed.37. General Guidelines7.1 Recommended thickness of thick poured gypsum
24、con-crete over structurally sound wood is34 in. (19 mm) minimum.Recommended minimum thickness over structurally soundconcrete or precast concrete is12 in. (13 mm). Minimumthickness over a floor ceiling assembly which contains a soundmat shall be 1 in. (25 mm). Subfloor must support design loadswith
25、maximum L360 deflection.7.2 Wood and concrete subfloors shall be structurally sound,clean and dry so as to support both the design live and deadloads in compliance with the local building code and theresilient flooring manufacturers installation requirements.7.3 The finished surfaces of the wood or
26、concrete subfloorshall be properly prepared, clean, dry, smooth, and free ofconstruction wastes such as acoustic and wall texture, over-spray, dirt, solvents, oil, grease, residual construction adhe-sives, adhesive removers, and other foreign materials.3Con-crete subfloors shall be fully cured and 2
27、8 days or older.7.4 Before, during and after installation of thick pouredgypsum concrete underlayment, the general contractor shall beresponsible for ensuring that the building shall be ventilatedand heated to a minimum of 50F (10C) until subfloor andambient temperatures have stabilized. Temperature
28、 during andafter installation shall be maintained until material has com-pletely cured. The general contractor shall provide heat andventilation as necessary to dry the thick poured gypsumconcrete underlayment.37.5 Installation of thick poured gypsum concrete underlay-ment shall not begin until the
29、building is enclosed, includingroof, windows, doors and other openings. The general contrac-tor shall be responsible to provide continuous ventilation untilthe underlayment is dry. Thick poured gypsum concreteunderlayment can be installed before or after the installation ofdrywall depending on the c
30、ompressive strength specified andany sound control system requirements (see manufacturersrecommendations). Ceilings shall be sprayed or stippled toavoid overspray.37.6 Before installation of thick poured gypsum concreteunderlayment, the condition of the structural subfloor and anyrequired elevations
31、 shall be inspected and approved by thegeneral contractor or owner, or both. All required flooring andnailing inspections shall be completed.37.7 Thick poured gypsum concrete underlayment installa-tion shall be by an applicator recommended to do this type ofinstallation by the manufacturer, experien
32、ced in performing thework of this practice, who has been trained in installation ofwork similar to the project under construction.8. Preparation of Subfloor8.1 The subfloor shall be of wood structural panel construc-tion or concrete, dry, level, securely nailed in the case ofpanels, and clean, witho
33、ut projections. Loose boards or panelsshall be renailed or screwed. Damaged, delaminated, badlycupped or warped board subfloors shall be replaced beforeinstallation of underlayment. Concrete subfloors shall be 28days or older.8.2 All cracks and voids shall be covered or filled with aquick-setting ta
34、ping compound or crack filler to preventleakage.9. Installation of Underlayment9.1 To minimize damage caused by other trades, the proce-dures in Section 11 shall be followed.3International Conference of Building Officials, a subsidiary of the InternationalConference of Building Officials, Evaluation
35、 Report No. ER-4147 and EvaluationReport No. ER-3433.F24190529.2 Subfloor shall be prepared and primed, following manu-facturers recommendations using a manufacturers approvedprimer, prior to installation of thick poured gypsum concreteunderlayment.9.3 Bags of dry gypsum concrete underlayment shall
36、bemixed in accordance with manufacturers recommendations inmanufacturers approved mixing and pumping equipment.9.4 Thick poured gypsum concrete underlayment shall bepoured or pumped onto subfloor at specified thickness andspread and screed to a smooth surface. Thick poured gypsumconcrete underlaymen
37、t shall be placed as continuously aspossible until installation is complete so that no thick pouredgypsum concrete underlayment is placed against thick pouredgypsum concrete underlayment that has obtained its initial set,except at authorized joints.310. Field Quality Control10.1 Thick poured gypsum
38、concrete underlayment shall betested for slump as it is being installed usinga2by4in.(51by 102 mm) cylinder. The patty size shall be as recommendedby the manufacturer of the thick poured gypsum concreteunderlayment.10.2 Field cube samples of thick poured gypsum concreteunderlayments shall be taken u
39、sing split brass molds and testedin accordance with Test Methods C 472. Manufacturer shallrecommend how often sample cubes shall be taken.11. Protection11.1 Because satisfactory performance of the finish flooringdepends in part on the condition of the surface of the thickpoured gypsum concrete under
40、layment, care shall be taken toavoid traffic on the thick poured gypsum concrete underlay-ment after installation. Damage to the thick poured gypsumconcrete underlayment surface can occur if water, oil, paint, oilbased sweeping compounds, solvent, dirt, or other debris arespilled, applied or tracked
41、 onto the thick poured gypsumconcrete underlayment. The thick poured gypsum concreteunderlayment shall be protected by temporary walking boardswherever the thick poured gypsum concrete underlayment willbe subject to heavy wheeled or concentrated loads.12. Preparation of Thick Poured Gypsum ConcreteU
42、nderlayment Surface12.1 Final preparation of the thick poured gypsum concreteunderlayment shall be accomplished just prior to application ofthe floor covering. The surface of the floor shall be cleaned ofall loose material by scraping, brushing, vacuuming, or othermethods, or combination thereof, re
43、commended by the resilientflooring manufacturer, immediately before commencing instal-lation of resilient flooring.12.2 Prior to installation of finished floor goods, thickpoured gypsum concrete underlayment shall be tested inaccordance with Test Method D 4263 or with an electronicmoisture meter wit
44、h a gypsum scale recommended by themanufacturer of the thick poured gypsum concrete underlay-ment. Acceptance criteria for the suitability of the substrate forinstallation of resilient floor covering shall be provided by themanufacturer of the resilient floor covering.12.3 The thick poured gypsum co
45、ncrete underlayment shallbe prepared with a topcoat/sealer if required by the manufac-turer of the thick poured gypsum concrete underlayment.12.4 Final surface preparation of the thick poured gypsumconcrete underlayment shall be in accordance with the recom-mendations of the finished floor goods man
46、ufacturer. The thickpoured gypsum concrete underlayment shall be primed prior tothe installation of resilient floor covering in accordance withthe recommendations of the manufacturer of the resilient floorcovering.13.
