The contents of.this standard were submitted for ballot to the members of CEN in November 1974 in view of its adoption as a European Standard. This European Standard was adopted by CEN as a result of its acceptance by the fol

Standard atmospheres for conditioning and testing Foreword Taking into account the climatic conditions existing in Europe, this standard specifies suitable combinati

12、ons of temperature and relative humidity recognized by ISO Recommendation R 291 - 1963, Plastics - Standard atmospheres for conditioning and testing. 1. Scope This standard specifies standard atmospheres for conditioning and testing textile glass reinforced plastics. Special atmospheres applicable t

13、o a particular test or simulating a particular climatic environment are not included. 2. Definition Conditioning, for the purposes of this standard, means exposure of textile glass reinforced plastics to the influence of a prescribed atmosphere for a stipulated period of time. In this sense, the pri

14、ncipal aim of conditioning is to improve the reproducibility of test results. 3. Standard atmosphere The standard test atmosphere is defined below: 3.1 For use when control of temperature and humidity is necessary: 23C, 50 % relative humidity 3.2 For use when only control of temperature is necessary

15、: 23C, ambient humidity 4. Tolerances 4.1 Temperature. The normal tolerance for temperature is 2C. If a closer tolerance is required, it shall be 1C. EN 62 Page 3 4.2 Relative humidity. The normal tolerance for relative humidity is 5 % r.h. If a closer tolerance is required, it shall be 2 % r.h. 5.

16、Conditioning 5.1 When the atmosphere specified in 3.1 is used, the standard time for conditioning is a period of at least 88 hours. 5.2 When the atmosphere specified in 3.2 is used, the standard time for conditioning is a period of 4 hours. 5.3 In the case of particular materials and test specimens

17、which are known to reach temperature and moisture equilibrium rapidly or slowly, and where the times specified in 5.1 or 5.2 are not suitable, a shorter or a longer time may be prescribed in the specifications or test methods concerned. 5.4 The plastics materials should be placed in the conditioning

18、 atmosphere in such a manner that as large a surface as possible of each specimen is exposed. 6. Test atmosphere Unles5 otherwise specified, the specimens shall be tested in the same atmosphere in which they have been conditioned. NOTE. Test specimens conditioned in the atmosphere specified in 3.1 m

19、ay be tested in the corresponding atmosphere specified in 3.2. and those conditioned in the atmosphere specified in 3.2 may be tested in ambient conditions. in cases where the resulting changes of temperature and moisture content are known not to affect the test results. 7. Report The conditioning r

21、j j j j National appendix A Origins of work and relationship with other British Standards The United Kingdom participated in the preparation of this and four other similar standards required to enable the principle of reference to standards to be applied in the preparation, by the Commission of the

22、European Communities, of a directive concerning tanks made from reinforced plastics for the transport of dangerous materials. These standards are intended to be used solely for this purpose and they should not be adopted for other applications without full technical consideration of the particular c

23、ircumstances. General considerations relating to the conditioning of plastics are covered in BS 2782, Methods of testing plastics. Foreword, general introduction and instructions. There is no technical incompatibility between the requirements given therein and the present standard. However, the usua
