It consists of5Parts, each of which relates to a particular aspect of powder metallurgical materials and pro

13、ed metal products, excluding hardmetals. Each of the Parts itself comprises a number of separately published Sections. In 1969, having revised BS2590-1, the BSI technical committee ISE/65 decided to restrict its further efforts to the work of the newly established ISO technical committee on powder m
14、etallurgical materials, ISO/TC119, with the intention of adopting as British Standards the International Standards prepared by ISO/TC119. BS 5600 represents the results of that decision, with most Sections of the standard corresponding to an International Standard prepared by ISO/TC119. Where possib
15、le, the United Kingdom has supported the international agreements reached in ISO/TC119 by adopting as Sections of BS5600 the unchanged texts of many of the International Standards; in these cases the Sections have been published as dual-numbered British Standards. However, the contents of a number o
16、f the International Standards have been judged by the United Kingdom powder metallurgical industry to be in specific respects unsuitable or inappropriate for adoption without change. In these cases, the required amendments have been made after discussion with the relevant BSI technical committee; as
17、 these Sections can no longer be represented as identical with the International Standards from which they were derived they cannot be published as dual-numbered Sections of BS5600. The International Standards adopted prior to31August1978 and those International Standards and Sections nearing comple
18、tion are listed inTable 1 which shows the ISO numbers of dual-numbered Sections and those of the International Standards upon which other Sections have been based. The International Standards that have yet to be completed by ISO/TC119 will, in due course, be considered for adoption as further Sectio

Many of the specifications and supporting methods of test specified in BS2590-1 are superseded by Sections of this British Standard; the remainder will be progr
