26、adjustableinheight.Figure1showsaschematicdiagramofthe apparatusandthetopviewofthearrangementsofthesixburners.Thepurityofthepropaneshallbeaminimumof 95%. NOTE A ”TEKLU”burnerhasbeenfoundtobesuitable,andinformationonasourceofsupplycanbeobtainedfromthe SecretariatofCEN/TC79. 6.3Procedure Mountthespecim

27、ensuchthattheexternalpartshavedirectexposuretotheflame. Beforelightingtheburners,positionthespecimencentrallyabovethearrayofsixburnersandindividuallyadjust theheightofeachburnersuchthatthedistancebetweentheburnertipandspecimenis250mm.Figure2shows theadjustmentoftheburnertipsforoneexampleofspecimen.

28、Withthespecimenremovedfromabovetheburners,fullyopenthepropanecontrolvalveoneachofthesix burners.Initiallyclosetheaircontrolvalveoneachofthesixburners.Ignitetheburnersandadjustthepropane cylinderoutputregulatortoapressure,suchthataflowmeterinthemainpropanesupplylineindicatesatotalflow toallsixburners

29、of(210,5)litres/min,propane. NOTE Atypicalpressurerangehasbeenfoundtobe0,3to1,25bar. Adjusttheflametemperatureataheightof250mmabovetheburnertipsinthecentreoftheflame,aboveone burner,toatemperatureof(95050)C,usingamineralinsulatedthermocoupleprobeof1.5mmdiameter(see Figure1).Theflametemperatureatahei

30、ghtof250mmaboveallburnersshallbewithinthelimitsspecified. Inordertoachievethecorrecttemperatureitmaybenecessarytoadjusttheaircontrolvalveoneachburnertoan optimumandtoshieldthewholetestrigfromtheeffectofexternalairflows. Exposethespecimentotheflamesfor(50,5)s.Wherecomponentsofthespecimenarepositioned

31、suchthat theyarenotexposeddirectlytotheflame,thetestshallberepeatedwiththesame,orwithothersamples,as appropriate,orientedintheappropriateposition. Observeandreportwhetherornotthespecimencontinuestoburnorpresentsanyadditionalhazardtothewearer. 7 Singleburnerstatictest:Method2 7.1Principle Thespecimen

32、isexposedtoaflameatatemperatureof(80050)Cfor(12 0,5) s,suchthatthecentreoftheflame impingesontheedgeofthespecimenundertest. 7.2 Testrig Thetestrigconsistsmainlyofapropanecylinderwithflowcontroldevice,pressuregauge,flashbackarrester, specimensupportandburner(seeFigure 3).Theburnershalleitherbeinaccor

Adjusttheheightoftheburnertiptothelowestpartofthehorizontalspecimenatadistanceof(202)

34、mm.Theedge ofthespecimenshallbepositioneddirectlyovertheburnerduringthetest.AnexampleisshowninFigure3. Withthespecimenremovedfromabovetheburner,ignitetheburnerandadjusttheflameheightwiththepropaneflow controlvalveto(40 4) mm.Checkthatthesesettingsgiveaflametemperatureof(800 50) Catapoint (202)mmabov

35、etheburnertip,measuredwithamineralinsulatedthermocoupleprobe,1,5mmdiameter(see Figure4).Inordertoachievethecorrectflametemperatureatthecorrectflameheight,itmaybenecessarytoshield thewholetestrigfromtheeffectofexternalairflows. Exposethespecimentotheflamefor(120,5)sensuringthatthecentreofflameimpinge

36、sontheedgeofthe specimen. Observeandreportwhetherornotthespecimencontinuestoburnorpresentsanyadditionalhazardtothewearer. 8 Singleburnermovingspecimentest:Method3 8.1Principle Thespecimenundertestismountedsuchthatitmaybepassedthroughaflameatatemperatureof(80050)Cata speedof(605)mm/s. 8.2 Testrig The

39、elinearspeedofthespecimen,measuredattheburneris (605)mm/s. Withthespecimenremovedfromabovetheburner,ignitetheburnerandadjusttheflameheightwiththepropaneflow control valve to (404)mm. Check that these settings give a flame temperature of (80050)Cat a point (202)mmabovetheburnertip,measuredwithaminera

40、linsulatedthermocoupleprobe,1,5mmdiameter(see Figure4).Inordertoachievethecorrectflametemperatureatthecorrectflameheightitmaybenecessarytoshield thewholetestrigfromtheeffectofexternalairflows. Passthespecimenoncethroughtheflame.Repeatthetestwiththespecimenmountedinadifferentorientationorwith othersp
