Beforelightingtheburners,positionthespecimencentrallyabovethearrayofsixburnersandindividuallyadjust theheightofeachburnersuchthatthedistancebetweentheburnertipandspecimenis250mm.Figure2shows theadjustmentoftheburnertipsforoneexampleofspecimen.
28、Withthespecimenremovedfromabovetheburners,fullyopenthepropanecontrolvalveoneachofthesix burners.Initiallyclosetheaircontrolvalveoneachofthesixburners.Ignitetheburnersandadjustthepropane cylinderoutputregulatortoapressure,suchthataflowmeterinthemainpropanesupplylineindicatesatotalflow toallsixburners
29、of(210,5)litres/min,propane. NOTE Atypicalpressurerangehasbeenfoundtobe0,3to1,25bar. Adjusttheflametemperatureataheightof250mmabovetheburnertipsinthecentreoftheflame,aboveone burner,toatemperatureof(95050)C,usingamineralinsulatedthermocoupleprobeof1.5mmdiameter(see Figure1).Theflametemperatureatahei
30、ghtof250mmaboveallburnersshallbewithinthelimitsspecified. Inordertoachievethecorrecttemperatureitmaybenecessarytoadjusttheaircontrolvalveoneachburnertoan optimumandtoshieldthewholetestrigfromtheeffectofexternalairflows. Exposethespecimentotheflamesfor(50,5)s.Wherecomponentsofthespecimenarepositioned
31、suchthat theyarenotexposeddirectlytotheflame,thetestshallberepeatedwiththesame,orwithothersamples,as appropriate,orientedintheappropriateposition.
