37、als likely to be used for uppers or from made-up uppers or finishedfootwear.5.3 Unless otherwise specified, the wear surface shall be buffed by rubbing with a grade 180 emery paper, placing a rigid plate and 10 N load on top of it and moving it 100 mm 10 times. !“EN13518:2001(E)66 Testmethod6.1Princ

38、ipleA rectangular test specimen is bent partly round, and secured between, two cylindrical clamps soas to form atrough.The troughisthenimmersedin water and theclamps oscillateat aconstant speed so that the specimenisrepeatedlyflexed.The time takenfor water penetration through the test specimen toocc

39、uris recorded.Themassof water absorbedby,and transmitted through, the test specimencanalsobemeasured.6.2 Procedure6.2.1 Stiffness:If the throw(see 4.1.3) to be used in the water resistance testhas not been specified then it isnecessary todetermine the throwtobe usedbasedon the stiffness of themateri

40、al:6.2.1.1 Adjust theapparatus (4.3) so that thepair ofcylinders(4.3.1)areat their maximum separation.6.2.1.2 Bend, without creasing, the test specimen alongits longer edges to form a trough. Loosely fit a ringshaped clamp(4.3.5) over each end of the test specimen. Bend, withoutcreasing, oneof the t

41、est specimensaround,andbetween, thecylinders(4.3.1) so that itsouter surfaceis facingoutwards,its shorteredges areparallelto theaxis of thecylindersandit overlaps eachcylinder byapproximately10 mm.The specimenforms a troughbetween thecylinders,openat the topandclosedat thebottom.6.2.1.3 Slide the ri

42、ng shaped clamps (see 4.3.5) along the specimen until their inner edges arealigned withthe facing ends of the twocylinders. Fully tighten oneofclamps, ensure that the test specimen is not slack,andthenfully tighten theother clamp.6.2.1.4 Over a time of 5 s 2 smove thecylinders 2,0 mm 0,1 mm closer t

43、oeachother,and watch thespecimen to ensure that the centre section folds upwards.If this is not thecaseapply gentle pressure to theundersideofthe testspecimenmidway between theclamps as theclampsmove togethertoencourageformationofan upwardfoldin thecentreof the test specimen.6.2.1.5 Immediately move
