28、mm,mounted with theiraxes horizontalandcoaxially aligned.4.1.2 Amaximum separationof thecylinders(4.1.1)ineachpair of40 mm null 0,5mm.4.1.3 Means of reducing the separation of the cylinders(4.1.1) in each pair by a throw of 2,0 mm 0,1 mm;3,0 mm 0,2 mm; 4,0 mm 0,4mm; or 6,0 mm 0,6 mmand returning the

34、s longer edges parallel to the along direction(X-axis as defined in EN13400 for shoe uppers, the backbonedirectionforleatherand themachinedirectionfor other materials)of the materialandcut the other test specimenperpendicular to this.For non-leather materials, cut test specimens froma rangeof positi

35、ons across the full usable width and length ofthe sheet material.Foramaterial with a woven structure thiswillprevent anytwo specimens containing the samewarporweft threads.5.2 Mark theprincipaldirectionof thematerialoneach test specimen.NOTE Very thin surfacefinishes with low abrasion resistancearel

36、ikely to be completely removed in someareas bythistreatment whilst thicker andmoreabrasion resistantfinishes andcoatings maybe scratchedanddulledonly.5.4 Store the test specimens inaconditionedatmosphereas specifiedinEN12222for at least 24hprior to test.NOTE Specimens can be taken either from materi

37、als likely to be used for uppers or from made-up uppers or finishedfootwear.5.3 Unless otherwise specified, the wear surface shall be buffed by rubbing with a grade 180 emery paper, placing a rigid plate and 10 N load on top of it and moving it 100 mm 10 times. !“EN13518:2001(E)66 Testmethod6.1Princ

38、ipleA rectangular test specimen is bent partly round, and secured between, two cylindrical clamps soas to form atrough.The troughisthenimmersedin water and theclamps oscillateat aconstant speed so that the specimenisrepeatedlyflexed.The time takenfor water penetration through the test specimen toocc

39、uris recorded.Themassof water absorbedby,and transmitted through, the test specimencanalsobemeasured.6.2 Procedure6.2.1 Stiffness:If the throw(see 4.1.3) to be used in the water resistance testhas not been specified then it isnecessary todetermine the throwtobe usedbasedon the stiffness of themateri

40、al:6.2.1.1 Adjust theapparatus (4.3) so that thepair ofcylinders(4.3.1)areat their maximum separation.6.2.1.2 Bend, without creasing, the test specimen alongits longer edges to form a trough. Loosely fit a ringshaped clamp(4.3.5) over each end of the test specimen. Bend, withoutcreasing, oneof the t

41、est specimensaround,andbetween, thecylinders(4.3.1) so that itsouter surfaceis facingoutwards,its shorteredges areparallelto theaxis of thecylindersandit overlaps eachcylinder byapproximately10 mm.The specimenforms a troughbetween thecylinders,openat the topandclosedat thebottom.6.2.1.3 Slide the ri

42、ng shaped clamps (see 4.3.5) along the specimen until their inner edges arealigned withthe facing ends of the twocylinders. Fully tighten oneofclamps, ensure that the test specimen is not slack,andthenfully tighten theother clamp.6.2.1.4 Over a time of 5 s 2 smove thecylinders 2,0 mm 0,1 mm closer t

43、oeachother,and watch thespecimen to ensure that the centre section folds upwards.If this is not thecaseapply gentle pressure to theundersideofthe testspecimenmidway between theclamps as theclampsmove togethertoencourageformationofan upwardfoldin thecentreof the test specimen.6.2.1.5 Immediately move

44、 thecylindersback to their originalpositions at the same speed.6.2.1.6 Repeat theprocedurein 6.2.1.4and 6.2.1.5 recording theforce, F1,between thecylinders,at thepointwhere the separationbetween thecylindershasbeendecreasedby2,0 mm null 0,1mm, to thenearest5N.6.2.1.7 Repeat theprocedurein 6.2.1.4 to

45、 6.2.1.6 this timemoving thecylinders togetherby4,0 mm0,2 mmand recording theforcebetween thecylinders,F2, when their separationhas been reducedby4,0 mm null 0,2 mm,to thenearest5N.6.2.1.8 IfarithmeticmeanofF1andF2, Fa,calculatedaccording to7.1.1,is greater than100N then record therequired throwX as

Use the higher of therecorded valuesfor X whencarryingout the testdescribedbelow.6.2.2 Initialpenetration:Ifthemassofwater absorbedor

49、transmittedby the test specimenis also required, thenrefer to 6.2.3 and 6.2.4 respectivelybeforeproceedingfurther.EN13518:2001(E)76.2.2.1 Set the testmachine(see4.1) sothat the throw (movement between the twocylinders)is equal toX asdeterminedin 6.2.1.6.2.2.2 Adjust the testmachine (see 4.1) so that thepairsofcylinders (see 4.1.1)are at their maximumseparation.NOTE If water penetrates through the lateraledges, repeat the test with the specimenhaving sealed theedges byappropriatemeans (PUR,neoprene, wax, vaseline,etc.).6.2.2.3 Bend, without
