16、ion ThisEuropeanStandardestablishesadatablocksystemforthedesignationofglassmatreinforcedthermoplastic sheet(GMT)usingaformatandcodingsystemestablishedbytheInternationalStandardsOrganisation(ISO) whichiscommontomostfibrereinforcedthermosetandthermoplasticmouldingmaterials.Thesystemisintended tobeappl
17、iedonlytomaterialsreadyforcommercialuse. Thedesignationsystemisbasedonthepremisethatthermosetsandlongfibrereinforcedthermoplasticscanbe dividedintogenericfamiliesusingbasicpolymers,valuesofselecteddesignatorypropertiesandadditional qualitativeinformationinordertodescribeaparticularmaterialasprecisel
18、yasdesired. Thesystemisintendedforthedesignationofasinglematerial(orasmallgroupofsimilarmaterials)withina genericfamily. Thetypesofthermopl
20、asticcompositesheetsaredifferentiatedfromeachotherbyaclassificationsystembasedon informationaboutbasicpolymerparameters,fillers/reinforcementcontentandtype,intendedmethodofprocessing and/ormanufacturing,specificcharacteristicsanddesignatoryproperties. ThisEuropeanStandardisapplicabletoglassfibrematr
21、einforcedpolypropylenesheetmaterialsonly. Itappliestomaterialsreadyforcommercialuseintheformofflatsheetorcoil. ThisEuropeanStandarddoesnotapplyto: thermoplasticsheetmouldingmaterialswherethepolymerisotherthanpolypropyleneorpolypropylenealloy orablend; thereinforcementisotherthanglassfibre. Itisnotin
