16、ion ThisEuropeanStandardestablishesadatablocksystemforthedesignationofglassmatreinforcedthermoplastic sheet(GMT)usingaformatandcodingsystemestablishedbytheInternationalStandardsOrganisation(ISO) whichiscommontomostfibrereinforcedthermosetandthermoplasticmouldingmaterials.Thesystemisintended tobeappl

17、iedonlytomaterialsreadyforcommercialuse. Thedesignationsystemisbasedonthepremisethatthermosetsandlongfibrereinforcedthermoplasticscanbe dividedintogenericfamiliesusingbasicpolymers,valuesofselecteddesignatorypropertiesandadditional qualitativeinformationinordertodescribeaparticularmaterialasprecisel

18、yasdesired. Thesystemisintendedforthedesignationofasinglematerial(orasmallgroupofsimilarmaterials)withina genericfamily. Itisnotintendedtospecifybythissystemthechemicalcompositionorthevolumetricrecipeofthecompoundbut todesignatethematerialforidentificationpurposes.Itistheresponsibilityoftheproducero

19、fthecompoundmaterial toprovidetheappropriatedesignation. ThedatablocksystemisalsothebasisforspecificationgiveninParts2and3ofthisstandard.EN136771:2003(E) 5 1Scope ThisEuropeanStandardestablishesadatablocksystemforthedesignationofglassmatreinforcedthermoplastic compositesheet(GMT). Thetypesofthermopl

20、asticcompositesheetsaredifferentiatedfromeachotherbyaclassificationsystembasedon informationaboutbasicpolymerparameters,fillers/reinforcementcontentandtype,intendedmethodofprocessing and/ormanufacturing,specificcharacteristicsanddesignatoryproperties. ThisEuropeanStandardisapplicabletoglassfibrematr

21、einforcedpolypropylenesheetmaterialsonly. Itappliestomaterialsreadyforcommercialuseintheformofflatsheetorcoil. ThisEuropeanStandarddoesnotapplyto: thermoplasticsheetmouldingmaterialswherethepolymerisotherthanpolypropyleneorpolypropylenealloy orablend; thereinforcementisotherthanglassfibre. Itisnotin

22、tendedtoimplythatmaterialshavingthesamedesignationgivenecessarilythesameperformance.This EuropeanStandarddoesnotprovideengineeringdata,performancedataordataonprocessingconditionswhich mayberequiredtospecifyamaterialforaparticularapplicationand/ormethodofprocessing. Ifsuchadditionalpropertiesarerequi

23、red,wheneverpossible,theyshallbedeterminedinaccordancewiththetest methodsspecifiedinPart2ofthisEuropeanStandard.
