MATERIALS: (l)(n) 1.1 Brick: Brick modular jumbo sized, ASTM C 216-84, Grade SW (1) Hollow brick, n. by - in., ASTM C 652-84, Grade S

3、W for face brick (1) and ASTM C 62-84a for backup and filler. Face brick texture matte rug velour stone face, color range red through brown white through medium gray pastel yellow through pink through 1, in a blend of four to six colors. 14、 1985 O (n 1.11 Material samples: Material samples shall include anchors, - ties, bricks, concrete units, joint reinforcements and aggregates. 2. HANDLING AND STORAGE: Prevent damaging exposure to weather, or contact with soil. 3. SAMPLES: Furnish brick sample panels to illustrate the material speci

15、fied and to show full range of color and texture. 4. ERECTION: 4.1 General: Do not erect when the ambient temperature is below 40 degrees F. Keep masonry units free from ice and snow and a minimum temperature of 40 degrees F. when laid. Maintain temperature of mortar or grout between 70 degrees F an

16、d 90 degrees F., and mixing water not over 160 degrees F. Maintain air around masonry at 40 degrees F for 72 hours after construction. Do not build on frozen work. Lay plumb, true to line, in level courses accurately spaced with a story pole. Unless otherwise shown, fill spaces around metal doorfram

17、es, and other built-in items, solidly with mortar. Cut and fit masonry units with a masonry saw. Maintain alinement within 1/8-in. allowance between exposed faces of adjacent units. Lay horizontal joint reinforcement in bed joints spaced 16 in. apart except where otherwise shown. Erect exposed units

18、 to show no detracting imperfections when viewed from eye level at a distance of 5 ft. in normal daylight. Set steel angle lintels to bear equally on supports, to line and level, and flash as indicated. In cavity wall and composite wall construction lay up the inner and outer wythes together. Concre

19、te-masonry-unit and concrete-brick surfaces shall be dry-brushed at the end of each days work and after any required pointing. O 4.2 Joints: 4.2.1 Exposed joints: All joints shall be tooled slightly concave after the mortar has taken its initial set. Joints shall be 318-in. nominal except that head

20、joints may have slight variations to maintain bond. 4.2.2 Calked joints: Control joints, joints between metal frames and masonry and other joints indicated shall have mortar raked out 3/4-in. deep and left ready for calking. 4.3 Unfinished work: Step back for joining with new work. Remove loose mort

21、ar and clean joint before laying new work. Protect masonry surfaces not being worked upon. 4.4 Mortar and grout: Discard material that has stiffened due to chemical reaction or is not used within 2 1/2 hours after mixing when air temperature is 80 degrees F. or above; and otherwise when not used wit

22、hin 3 112 hours. Mortar that has stiffened because of evaporation may be retempered as needed. 4.5 Brick facing: Lay in running bond with the better race of the brick exposed. Apply a full bed of mortar under face shells of units but not across webs, except that full mortar beds are required un

24、der units at starting courses on footing-, solid founda- tion walls, beams and lintels and in load-bearing piers, columns and pilasters and where voids are filled. Bond each course at corners. Fill voids with mortar in units at door and window jambs and in units at supports for plumb- ing, heating,

25、or other fixtures. Lay units to be filled in full bed or mortar and aline to provide a minimum 2- by 3-in. plumb grouting-core. Fill voids for full height with mortar mixed to pouring consistency. Place steel in bond beams and in concrete masonry unit studs and columns as shown for full embedment. F

26、ill bond beams, lintel units, and vertically reinforced concrete masonry unit studs and columns with 2,500 psi concrete or grout. 4.7 Anchorage: Set and fully embed anchors, ties and joint reinforcement in mortar as masonry progresses. Fill cells receiving anchor bolts and cells of the first course

27、below bearing plates solidly with mortar or grout. Anchor masonry to concrete backing with dovetail anchors set in grooves or inserts placed in face of concrete and spaced not over 2 ft. apart horizontally and 16 in. apart vertically. 4.8 Cavity wall construction: Unless otherwise indicated, separat

28、e inner and outer wythes by a 2-in. cavity. Tie wythes securely together with continuous joint reinforcement spaced at i6-in. centers vertically or as indicated. In addition, place cavity-wall ties within 8 in. each side of jambs and openings and control and expansion joints in alternate courses wit

29、h joint reinforcement except where wythes are bonded. Keep cavity clear of mortar by means of a wood filler piece pulled up with drippings before placing next row of ties. Provide weep holes approximately 5/16-in. diameter, at 32-in. centers in mortar joint of outer wythe along bottom of cavity over

30、 foundations, through wall flashings and other waterstops in wall. holes while masonry work is in progress. wythe shall be in accordance with paragraph Reinforced hollow unit masonry. (n) 4.9 Reinforced composite-wall construction: Unless otherwise indicated, tie inner and outer wythes securely toge

31、ther with continuous joint reinforce- ment spaced at 16-in. or less vertically. Fill the collar joint between facing and masonry backup solidly with mortar or grout as the units are laid. Reinforced masonry backup shall conform to the paragraph, Reinforced hollow unit masonry, except that open-face

32、shell backup units shall be used where indicated. Cleanouts may be cut from one face shell or standard cutout units may be used. Lay hollow masonry units in running bond except where otherwise indicated. Fill bed joints with mortar for the full thickness of the face shell. Mortar cross webs around f

33、illed cells. Where all cells are grouted provide grout barriers at 25-ft. maximum spacing. units, metal sash jamb units and control joint keys, or open end stretchers units for control joints. Vertical grouting cores to be 2- in. by 3-in. minimum. Provide cleanout holes at the

35、bottom in filled cores when the height of the grout pour exceeds 24 in. 4.11 Reinforced grouted masonry: The two wythes shall be separated by a minimum -in. wide collar joint reinforced horizontally and vertically with steel bars and solidly filled with grout. One wythe may be brought up not more th

36、an 16-in. ahead of the other wythe. Provide cleanouts at the bottom of every pour when the height of the grout exceeds 24-in., provide grout barriers not more than 25-ft. apart. Construct grout barriers of solid masonry units. Lay brick with the better face exposed in running bond. Where the grout l

37、ift exceeds 24-in., bond the two wythes together with wall ties not more than 24-in. on centers horizontally and 16-in. on center vertically. 4.12 Reinforcing steel: Clean all reinforcement of loose, flaky rust, scale, grease mortar, grout, or other coating which might destroy or reduce its bond. Un

38、less otherwise indicated, the details of reinforcement shall conform to AC1 CP 66-80. Maintain a minimum clearance between the bars and masonry units of 1/2-in. and between parallel bars of one diameter of the reinforcement. Hold vertical reinforcing in place using centering devices or ties, located

39、 near the ends of each bar and at intermediate intervals of not more than 192 diameters of the reinforcement. Locate splices only where shown. Stagger splices in adjacent bars. Lap bars a minimum of 40 diameters of the reinforcement or 2-ft. whichever is greater. Lap bars in. but in no case shall th

40、e lap be less than 30 bar diameters. Welded or mechanical connections shall develop at least 125 percent of the strength of the re inforcement. O 4.13 Grouting: 4.13.1 Lifts 24-in. or less: Place grout as the wall is being laid. Place at a rate that will not cause displacement of the masonry. Remove

41、 all set mortar protruding more than 1/2-in. into the grout space. Place grout in final position within 2-1/2 hours after mixing when air temperature is 80 degrees F. or higher and 3-1/2 hours after mixing when the air temperature is less than 80 degrees F. Rod, puddle or vibrate to insure complete

42、filling of the grout space. Do not insert the vibrators into lower pours that are in a semisolidified state. 4.13.2 Lifts over 24-in.: For wall laid to its full height, do not pour grout until mortar joints have set for at least 3 days during hot weather and 5 days during cold damp weather except in

43、 hollow unit masonry until mortar joints have set for at lest 24 hours. Remove mortar fins protruding more than 1/2-in. into the grout space. after mixing when air temperature is 80 degrees F. exceed 4 ft. in height, with a waiting period between lifts, allowing the preceding lift to become plastic

44、but before the initial set. The first lift shall be vibrated. Place the second lift and vibrate extending 12- to 18-in. Place grout in final position within 1-1/2 hours. Place grout in lifts not to into the previous lift. Repeat until the top of the grout pour is reached. a 4 -4 - Provided by IHSNot
