14、ipment shall be the standard products of a manufacturer regularly engaged in the manufacture of the products and shall be the manufacturers latest standard design that has been in satisfactory use for at least 2 years prior to bid opening. 2.2 WIRING SYSTEM The category for cable, jacks and blocks s

15、hould be the same throughout each circuit and system. Specify more than two categories only if providing two systems requiring different categories. general, Category 3 (up to 1OMHz transmission) should be used for voice circuits and Category 5 (up to 1OOMHz) should be used for data circuits. Verify

For applications where cables will not be in conduit, and are in a plenum environment, specify Type 2 for horizontal cable and Type 4 for bac

17、kbone cable. If in conduit, or not in a plenum, Type 1 for horizontal cable and Type 3 for backbone cable should be specified. Ensure that the NEC 60 percent maximum conduit fill is considered when sizing cables. When sizing the cables and determining the category, keep in mind whether the system is

18、 voice-only or voice-data. Use pin/pair configuration T568A unless the host facility has standardized on T568B NOTE: See Additional Note E. The wiring system shall be in conformance with EIA 568. 2.2.1 Horizontal Cables Horizontal cables between the telecommunication outlet and the connecting hardwa

19、re shall be in accordance with the requirements of EIA 568 for 100-ohm, unshielded, twisted-pair and shall be category 3 5 in conformance with EIA TSB 36. Type, per ICEA S-80-576, shall be as shown. 2.2.2 Backbone Cables Backbone cables between the entrance facility and telecommunication closets and

20、 equipment rooms shall be of the same category as the horizontal cable it serves. Cables shall be in accordance with the requirements of EIA 568 for 100-ohm, unshielded, twisted-pair and EIA TSB 36. Cabinets shall conform to UL 50 and have boxes constructed of zinc-coated sheet steel with interior dimensions not less t

24、han shown on drawings. Trim shall be fitted with hinged door and flush catch. 28、e distribution and wiring. Wiring shall be installed in accordance with EIA 568, and as specified in Section 16415 ELECTRICAL WOM, INTERIOR. EIA 568, Appendix C shall be considered mandatory. Cables shall not be installed in the same cable tray, utility pole compartment, or floor trench compartment

29、with ac power cables. properly secured and neat in appearance. Cables not installed in conduit or wireways shall be 3.3 GROUNDING NOTE: Verify that a grounding point exists in the facility. If not, provisions for a ground should be added. Reference TM 5-811-9. The telecommunications equipment ground

30、 shall be connected to the Master Ground Bar (MGB) building ground electrical service equipment ground following the most direct route utilizing a minimum No. 6 gauge copper wire conductor. Total resistance of the conductor only shall be 0.005 ohms or less. 3.4 TESTING Notification of planned testin

31、g shall be given at least 14 days prior to any test. Personnel or the Contracting Officers onsite representative. Discrepancies noted during testing shall be corrected, and those tests rerun, within 14 days. Tests shall be witnessed by Government Quality Assurance 3.4.1 Test Reports A report detaili

32、ng the results of testing shall be delivered within 7 days after completion of each phase of testing. sign-off/completion sheets for each test indicating test results, reason for failure, and signature blocks for both the contractor and Government witness. The report shall contain 3.4.2 Tests Tests

33、shall verify block-to-jack continuity of pairs with no shorts, opens, crosses, reverses, splits, or grounds. Tests shall include measurement of attenuation, near-end crosstalk, and ambient noise. To ensure a successful cutover, 100 percent verification of subscriber records and cable locations for t
