32、7G12-14Zinc-coatedsteel wire strand1 Scope1.1This Standard describes zinc-coated steel wire strand suitable for use as guys, suspension strand, spanwires, and overhead ground wire strand. Overhead ground wire strand for electric power transmission isproduced free of wire joints. Included are require

33、ments for Grades 800, 1100, 1300, and 1500 (110, 160,180, and 220). Zinc coatings for all grades include hot-dip Class A and electro-galvanized Class A, B, or C.Construction features include strands containing 7, 19, or more than 19 wires.1.2This Standard is not intended for use in the manufacture a

34、nd purchase of galvanized bridge or ACSRstrands, smooth coil track strand, or galvanized sash cord.1.3The values given in SI units are the units of record for the purposes of this Standard. The values given inparentheses are for information and comparison only. The values stated in each system are n

40、 and arrangement of the wires in a strand.Designated strand size a reference to indicate the strand size and construction.Electro-zinc-coated (electro-galvanized) a type of zinc coating produced by passing the wire throughan electrolytic cell containing zinc salts.Grade of strand a designation of st

41、rand in terms of the strength grade of the wire used in thefabrication of the strand.Hot-dip-coated a type of zinc coating produced by passing the wire through molten zinc.Left-hand lay a counter-clockwise twist of the outer wire layer of a strand away from the observer.Pitch the axial length of one

42、 complete turn of the helix formed by an individual wire in a strand.Quality assurance a planned and systematic pattern of all means and actions designed to provideadequate confidence that items or services meet contractual and jurisdictionalrequirements and willperform satisfactorily in service. Qu

43、ality assurance includes quality control.Quality control those actions that provide a means to measure and regulate the characteristics of anitem or service to established requirements.Strand an assembly of wires laid helically around a centre wire in one or more symmetrical layer(s).Zinc-coated (wi

44、re) a wire that has a coating of zinc applied by either the hot-dip process or theelectro-galvanizing process.4 Steel wire requirements4.1 General requirements4.1.1 Type of steelThe wire shall be made from steel produced by the basic open hearth, electric furnace, or basic oxygensteelmaking process.

45、4.1.2 Type of zincThe slab zinc when used for the coating shall be any grade of zinc conforming to ASTM B6.G12-14 Zinc-coated steel wire strandOctober 2014 2014 CSA Group 94.1.3 Conditionof the bare wireThe bare wire shall be of smooth uniform finish consistent with good commercial practice and free

46、 frominjurious defects.4.1.4 JointsThere shall be no joints of any kind made in the finished wire to be used in overhead ground wire strand.Electrically butt-welded joints made prior to the start of wire drawing shall be permitted.4.1.5 FinishThe zinc-coated wire shall be free from any imperfections

47、 not consistent with good commercial practice.The zinc-coating shall be continuous and reasonably smooth.4.2 Dimensional,mechanicalproperty, and coating requirements4.2.1 GeneralThe following requirements shall apply to the wire before fabrication into strand.4.2.2 Wire diameter tolerance and roundn

48、ess requirementsEach zinc-coated wire shall not vary in diameter by more than the values shown in Table 1 and shall notvary in roundness by more than one-half the total permissible diameter tolerance when tested inaccordance with the requirements of Clause 11.1.1.
