9、o July, 1983 Formsets for Use with Embossed Cards and Imprinting Equipment 5 Preface This is the second edition of CSA Standard 2243.32, Formsets for Use with Embossed Cards and Imprinting Equipment, which supersedes the first edition published in 1977. It is based upon modifications published in th

10、e Canadian Bankers Association Standard S9, Formsets for Use With Embossed Cards, and Imprinting Equipment in the Banking Industry. The material presented is updated to the current document formset requirementsfor other industries as well as the banks. Dimensions are given in both SI (metric) units

11、(rounded) and exact inch units due to the precise requirements of these documents. This Standard does not apply to charge forms itemized by many point of sale devices such as cash register printers. Standardization of these formsets results in: (a) one card issuers charge form and paymenthansaction

12、card have to be processed; and Improved automatic processing of standardized charge form media in an interchange environment where more than (6) A reduction in the need for multiple imprinters at the point of sale. Examples of industry relationships which may benefit from imprint standardization are

This Standard was prepared by a Working Group of and approved by the Technical Committee on Credit Cards and Identification Cards under the jurisdiction of the Standards Steering Committee on Computers, Information Processing an

15、d Office Machines, and was formally approved by these Committees. Scope 1.1 The purpose of this Standard is to define common media for the transferring of information from sources, including the embossed characters on a card, by means of imprinting equipment. 1.2 The existence of two standards in relation to forrnset

20、 dimensions is recognized as are the several different methods of capturing the information contained on completed formsets. 1.3 This Standard is recognized as being related to: (a) CSA Standard 2243.17, Embossed Credit Cards - Specifications, Numbering System and Registration Procedures; (b) CSA St

21、andards 2243.22, Style A Character Sets for Optical Character Recognition, and 2243.24, Style B Character Sets for Optical Character Recognition, and Appendices; (c) CSA Standard 2243.41, OCR Paper; (d) ANSI Standard X4.18, Location of Information on a Credit Card Charge Form; (e) CBA Standard S9, F

General Speclflcations 2.1 Number of Copies 2.1.1 The formset consists of a minimum of two parts, constructed of either interleaved

27、carbon paper or carbon- less paper. If interleaved carbon paper is used, the following shall (a) Thecarbon substrate between part 1 and part 2 shall be carbon coated on both sides to facilitate imprinting of the reverse of part 1 and on the face of part 2; and (b) The carbon substrate between parts

28、2 and 3 shall be coated on the reverse side only. If carbonless paper is used, the configuration shall be determined by the system requirements. Note: Two, three, or four parf formsets are permissible as determined by the bank or merchant, or both, requiring such documents. 2.1.2 Sequence. The seque

29、nce of parts shall be determined by the system requirements at the option of the issuer. 2.2 Dimensions 2.2.1 The detached copies of each formset shall be the size of either: (a) Size A (see Figure 1). Length - 187.33 * 0.94 mm (7.375 * 0.037 in.). Width - 82.55 i 0.38 rnm (3.250 F 0.015 in.); or (b

30、) Size B (see Figure 2). Length* - 123.24 i 0.94 mm (4.852 * 0.037 in.). Width - 82.55 f 0.38 mm (3.250 k 0.015 in,). Excludes width of stub (see Figures 1 and 2). 2.2.2 If a corner cut is required it shall be in the upper right hand corner at an angle of 60 * 2“ from the top edge. 2.2.3 The detacha

31、ble stub(s) shall be on the left side of the set and shall be 12.70 f 0.38 mm (0.5 k 0.015 in.) in width. apply: 2.3 Grammage of Paper 2.3.1 The processing copy shall be made of paper with a grammage of 90 g/m2 (k 5%) (basis 17 x 22 in.-48M). 2.3.2 The customer or merchant retention copies shall be

32、of paper with a grarnmage of not less than 34 g/m2 (basis 17 x 25 in.-l8.5M) or more than 45 g/m2 (basis 17 x 22 in.-24M) and may be oil treated for transparency if desired. 2.3.3 The paper shall be sufficientlyfreefrom blemishes, dust, lint, and other particles so as to preclude an adverse effect o

33、n its end use, i.e., OCR processable. 2.4 Carbon 2.4.1 When carbon paper is used in environments where freezing temperatures are experienced, it shall be of a non-freeze type. 2.4.2 The carbon paper used to imprint onto the processing copy shall be black and of a type suitable for reading by OCR equ

34、ipment. Note: Carbons may be trimmed short or notched by 4.763 mm (0.1875 in.) minimum to 7.934 mm (0.3125 in.) maximum on the right-hand edge to facilitate the separation of the formsef. 2.5 Cofour 2.5.1 The processing copy shall be white. Users shall refer to CSA Standards 2243.22, Style A Charact

35、er Sets for Optical Character Recognition, and 2243.24, Style B Character Sets for Optical Character Recognition, and in particular to CSA Standard 2243.41, OCR Paper. 2.5.2 The colour of ink for printing in all areas, other than the OCR capture area, shall be as specified by the issuer. 2.5.3 Credi

36、t formsets require that the colour of ink for print in all areas, other than the OCR capture area, shall be red. The word “CREDIT“ will be in red-screen on all copies. 37、tains two main areas, each of which have different requirements. To facilitate processing, particularly where national or international exchange systems are in operation, the following printing requirements have been determined and are applicable only to the processing copy: (a) OCR Capture Area. Th

38、e upper left hand corner of the form (area ABCD in Figures 1 and 2) is reserved for imprints from the card and the merchant identification plate. The areas ALKJ and MNOP are reserved for other information intended to be captured by OCR techniques. Printing in scan areas not intended to be optically

39、read, must be printed in non-read ink. For printing required to be read by OCR equipment, read ink suitable for data capture shall be used. The OCR requirements of the formset shall be in accordance with IS0 Standard 1831, Printing Specifi- cations for Optical Character Recognition; (b) Other Areas:

40、 (i) Area EFGH on the PROCESSING COPY is reserved for bank use and is at present being used by some card issuers for the microfilming of retrieval numbers; and (ii) Area EFGH is available for use on the MERCHANT and CUSTOMER copy, as agreed to by the merchant and the card issuer, for printing, e.g.,

41、 logos; (c) Reverse Side. Printing on the reverse side (back printing) is acceptable provided it does not interfere with face scanning or eye readability. 4. Information Content 4.1 Formset Reference Code 4.1.1 Where required by the issuer, the formset shall have a sequential reference code which sh

42、all consist of the following: (a) A one digit transaction code followed by; (b) One space, followed by; (c) Six characters indicating the sequence number; (d) The transaction code which will have one of the following values: (i) 0 - 4 = Reserved for future use; (ii) 5 = Sales; (iii) 6 = Credit; (iv)

43、 7 - 9 = Reserved for future use. In certain interchange systems this may require special consideration. The reference code shall be OCR 7B font or the equivalent, and the printing specifications shall be in accordance with IS0 Standard 1831, Printing Specifi- cations for Optical Character Recogniti

44、on. 4.1.2 On the size A formset, the sequential reference code shall be located in the area designated BLKX in Figure 1 and appear on all parts of the formset. The first (or low order) digit of the reference code shall be a minimum of 36.53 mm (1.4375 in.) from the rightmost edge of the formset to t

45、he beginning of that character; the seventh (or high order) digit shalt be a maximum of 66.72 mm (2.625 in.) from the rightmost edge of the formset to the end of that character; and the centre line of the reference code shall be 5.57 f 1.02 rnm (0.219 k 0.040 in.) from the top of the formset. 4.1.3

46、On the size B formset, the sequential reference code shall be located in the area designated MNOP in Figure2, and appear on all parts of the formset. The first (or low order) digit of the reference code shall be a minimum of 12.70 mm (0.5 in.) from the rightmost edge of the formsettothe beginning of

47、 that character; the seventh (or high order) digit shall be a maximum of 44.00 mm (1.73 in.) from the rightmost edge of the formset to the end of that character; and the centre line of the reference codeshall be 35.60 * 1.02 mm (1.40 k0.040 in.) from the top of the formset. 49、n that copy (e.g., customer copy, processing copy, etc.) when required by the issuer. 5.1 The OCR requirements of the formset, other than those contained within this Standard shall be in accord- ance with the various OCR manufacturers specifications, and according to the processing equipment used in accord with any interchange agreement entered into by the issuer, or both. Note: Wherever possible, the first copy, bearing the customers original signature, shall be retained by the merchant. 4.3 Transaction Descriptlon. Each formset shall contain: (a) In the case of sales transactio
