9、o July, 1983 Formsets for Use with Embossed Cards and Imprinting Equipment 5 Preface This is the second edition of CSA Standard 2243.32, Formsets for Use with Embossed Cards and Imprinting Equipment, which supersedes the first edition published in 1977. It is based upon modifications published in th
10、e Canadian Bankers Association Standard S9, Formsets for Use With Embossed Cards, and Imprinting Equipment in the Banking Industry. The material presented is updated to the current document formset requirementsfor other industries as well as the banks. Dimensions are given in both SI (metric) units
11、(rounded) and exact inch units due to the precise requirements of these documents. This Standard does not apply to charge forms itemized by many point of sale devices such as cash register printers. Standardization of these formsets results in: (a) one card issuers charge form and paymenthansaction

Examples of industry relationships which may benefit from imprint standardization are

14、Each industry has varying degrees of interchange among its own members. This Standard was prepared by a Working Group of and approved by the Technical Committee on Credit Cards and Identification Cards under the jurisdiction of the Standards Steering Committee on Computers, Information Processing an

Rexdale, July, 1983 Note: Although the intended primary application of this Standard is stated in its Scope, it is important to note that it remains the responsibility of the user of the Standard to judge its suitability for his or he

37、tains two main areas, each of which have different requirements. To facilitate processing, particularly where national or international exchange systems are in operation, the following printing requirements have been determined and are applicable only to the processing copy: (a) OCR Capture Area. Th
38、e upper left hand corner of the form (area ABCD in Figures 1 and 2) is reserved for imprints from the card and the merchant identification plate. The areas ALKJ and MNOP are reserved for other information intended to be captured by OCR techniques. Printing in scan areas not intended to be optically
39、read, must be printed in non-read ink. For printing required to be read by OCR equipment, read ink suitable for data capture shall be used. The OCR requirements of the formset shall be in accordance with IS0 Standard 1831, Printing Specifi- cations for Optical Character Recognition; (b) Other Areas:
40、 (i) Area EFGH on the PROCESSING COPY is reserved for bank use and is at present being used by some card issuers for the microfilming of retrieval numbers; and (ii) Area EFGH is available for use on the MERCHANT and CUSTOMER copy, as agreed to by the merchant and the card issuer, for printing, e.g.,
41、 logos; (c) Reverse Side. Printing on the reverse side (back printing) is acceptable provided it does not interfere with face scanning or eye readability. 4. Information Content 4.1 Formset Reference Code 4.1.1 Where required by the issuer, the formset shall have a sequential reference code which sh

43、 7 - 9 = Reserved for future use. In certain interchange systems this may require special consideration. The reference code shall be OCR 7B font or the equivalent, and the printing specifications shall be in accordance with IS0 Standard 1831, Printing Specifi- cations for Optical Character Recogniti

The first (or low order) digit of the reference code shall be a minimum of 36.53 mm (1.4375 in.) from the rightmost edge of the formset to t

46、On the size B formset, the sequential reference code shall be located in the area designated MNOP in Figure2, and appear on all parts of the formset.
