11、standard covers first aid kits for use in motor vehicles. It specifies dimensions, requirements, methods of testing and marking of such kits and their contents, to permit first aid to be properly carried out at the accident site. 2 Normative references The following documents, in whole or in part, a

18、ontents as in this standard Designation of first aid boxes with contents as specified in this standard, DIN 13164:2014-01 (see Clause 6): Contents DIN 13164 2014 4 Dimensions The outside dimensions of the bottom part of the box shall be (166 2) mm (255 2) mm. The lid shall be permitted to protrude b
19、eyond the walls of the bottom part of the box by up to (15 1) mm, but shall be not more than (175 3) mm (264 3) mm in size. The overall height of the box when closed shall be (80 2) mm. The wall thickness of the box shall not exceed 3 mm. 5 Safety requirements The material of the box shall not affec
20、t or cause alterations to its contents. It shall be resistant to unleaded fuel and diesel fuel. When tested in accordance with 7.1, there shall be no signs of deformation, bulging, flaking, cracking or changes in colour. Boxes shall have no sharp edges likely to cause injuries. To this effect, edges
21、 shall be deburred, flanged or otherwise rimmed. Boxes susceptible to corrosion shall be given a priming and a top coat. Any coating and the marking shall be abrasion resistant. When tested in accordance with 7.2, there shall be no coating particles on the adhesive tape when viewed with eyes with no
22、rmal vision. The box shall be capable of being locked. The lock can be sealable. The lid of the box shall be capable of being opened so as to touch the surface of the bottom part of the box on which it rests. When tested for resistance to thermal cycling in accordance with 7.3 and when subjected to
23、the drop test according to 7.5, boxes shall retain their function and dimensional stability. In the tightness test in accordance with 7.4, the contents of the box shall not become wet. The box shall be made to comply with degree of protection IP 03 as specified in DIN EN 60529 (VDE 0470-1). When hol

31、 10 ml of unleaded fuel and 10 ml of diesel fuel shall be applied to the box using a burette. After a period of 6 h, the box shall be checked visually under incident light. 7.2 Testing of coating and marking A transparent adhesive tape made of rigid PVC shall be applied to the coating and marking, t
32、aking care that no air is entrained. After a period of 30 min, the tape shall be pulled off abruptly by hand, perpendicular to the surface of the box. 7.3 Resistance to thermal cycling For testing the resistance of boxes to thermal cycling, they shall be exposed three times in succession, for 2 h ea
33、ch, to a temperature of (25 2) C and, following that, to a temperature of (80 2) C. Between the exposure periods, the boxes shall be exposed to room temperature, i.e. to (20 2) C. 7.4 Tightness test Kits (boxes with contents) shall be tested in accordance with DIN EN 60529 (VDE 0470-1). 7.5 Drop tes
34、t 7.5.1 Each of three boxes shall be filled with 1,5 kg of PE pellets at room temperature (20 2) C, and closed. They shall then be dropped, with the bottom down, from a height of 80 cm on a non-resilient surface. 7.5.2 Each of three further boxes shall be filled with 1,5 kg of PE pellets, and closed
35、. They shall then be exposed to a temperature of (25 2) C for 24 hours. Following that, the drop test as in 7.5.1 shall be carried out at (20 2) C.
