11、 Standard has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 248 “Textiles and textile products“, the secretariat of which is held by BSI. This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by September 20

12、01, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by September 2001. It is one of a series of standards being prepared describing the size designation of clothes. Other standards in the series have the following titles: prEN 13402-2 Size designation of clothes -Primary and seco

13、ndary dimensions in garments prEN 13402-3 Standard size designation systems for clothing (Wi 00248243) It is related to IS0 3635 :1981; prEN IS0 3635:1996 was submitted to the Unique Acceptance Procedure (UAP) in CEN on 1996-10-24. Since the result of the UAP was negative, CENTC 248 examined the rea

14、sons for negative votes and modified the IS0 Standard to suit the European needs. This European Standard is the result of this work. According to the CENKENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the following countries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austri

16、ed in conjunction with the European Standard for the size designation of clothes applicable to the garment under consideration. 1 Scope This European Standard defines body dimensions for garments, specifies a procedure for measuring the body and gives pictograms to be used on garment labels. 2 Norma

17、tive references This European Standard incorporates, by dated or undated references, provisions from other publications. These normative references are cited at the appropriate places in the text and the publications are listed hereafter. For dated references, subsequent amendments or revisions of a

18、ny of these publications apply to this European Standard only when incorporated in it by amendment or revision. For undated references the latest edition of the publications referred to applies (including amendments). 3 Terms and definitions For the purposes of this Standard, the following terms and

19、 definitions apply. 3.1 primary dimension a body eae, in centimetres, that shall be used in designating the size of a garment. (see pEN 13402-2. in r at enquiry stage with number prEN 13764) 3.2 secondary dimension a body , in centimetres, or, in the case of pantyhose, body mass (kg), that may addit

20、ionally be used in designating the size of a garment (see yrEN 13402-2, in prepsaration, at stage with number prEN 73764) 3.3 standard pictogram pictorial symbol used to indicate the position on the body of the relevant dimensions Standard pictogram Page 4 EN 13402-1 : 2001 3.4 modified pictogram st

21、andard pictogram on which the position of the breasts is shown by two inverted arcs to indicate the position of the underbust girth dimension NOTE 1 The standard pictogram and the modified pictogram are shown below in their basic forms, .e. without the numerals used for labelling. For uniformity of

22、presentation, girth measurements should be shown on the left-hand side and length measurements on the righthand side of pictograms. NOTE 2 The minimum size of the pictogram is not specified but it should be large enough to convey immediate understanding and allow the use of readily legible numerals.

23、 NOTE 3 The recommended type for use on pictograms is UNIVERS 55, as used in the European Standard for the relevant size designation. NOTE 4 The pictogram provides information only and does not give the technical information on how the measurement is to be made. The measuring position is provided in

33、llimetres with the subject wearing hose appropriate to the type of boot or shoe. Page 9 EN 13402-1 : 2001 4 Measurement of body dimensions 4.1 Apparatus 4.1.1 Measuring stand (anthropometer, somatometer), consisting essentially of a rule, graduated in centimetres,vertically mounted and with a movabl

34、e arm (cursor). 4.1.2 Dimensionally stable tape-measure, of width approximately 15 mm and graduated in centimetres. 4.1.3 Balance suitable for measuring body mass. 4.2 Procedure If practicable, measure the body in the unclothed state. If this is impracticable (for example, if measurements are made a

35、t the point of sale), ensure that the measurements are taken over as few clothes as possible and that these garments do not seriously affect the body shape or interfere with the taking of accurate measurements. When determining bust girth, measure over a brassiere that shall not deform the breast in

36、 an unnatural way and shall not displace its volume (see also IS0 8559). Use the measuring stand (see 4.1.1) to measure the height of all persons other than infants not yet able to stand upright. Use the tape-measure (see 4.1.2) to measure all other dimensions as well as the height of infants not ye

37、t able to stand upright. Apply moderate tension to the tape-measure (but ensure that the body is not constricted by the tape) and take each measurement “rounded up” to the next centimetre, except where rnm are needed, e. g. foot and hand. Use the balance (see 4.1.3) to measure the body mass. Take me

38、asurements of all the primary dimensions specified in the European Standard for the size designation of the garment concerned. Other methods of measuring the body, such as biostereometry, photogrammetry scanning and c(ther n#, may be used, provided they are at least as accurate as the method prescribed.
