This document (EN ISO 28881:2013) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 39 “Machine tools”, Subcommittee SC 10, “Safety” in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 143, “Werkzeugmaschinen Sicherheit”. The International Standards produced by ISO/TC 39/SC
6、 10 in collaboration with CEN/TC 143 are particular to machine tools and complement the relevant A and B standards on the subject of general safety (see Introduction to ISO 12100-1 for a description of type-A, -B and -C standards). This document has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the
7、European Commission and the European Free Trade Association, and supports essential requirements of EU Directive(s). This International Standard describes the current state of technology as regards safety and occupational health in the presence of all electro-discharge machines. It is a type C stand
8、ard for machines meeting the essential safety and health requirements laid down in Annex I of the revised Machinery Directive (Directive 2006/42/EC). The responsible German body involved in its preparation was the Normenausschuss Werkzeugmaschinen (Machine Tools Standards Committee), Working Committ

The most significant technical modification is the replacement of the “safety categories” defined in EN 954-1:1996 as resistance to faults and their subsequent behaviour in the fault condition
10、, by the “performance levels” defined in ISO 13849-1:2006 in terms of probability of dangerous failure per hour. IntroductionThis International Standard has been prepared to be a Harmonized Standard to provide one means of conforming to the Essential Safety Requirements of the Machinery Directive of the European Union and associated EFTA regulations.T
34、his document is a type-C standard as defined in ISO 12100:2010.The machinery concerned and the extent to which hazards, hazardous situations and events are covered are indicated in the Scope of this International Standard. In addition, electro-discharge machining (EDM) equipment and EDM systems are
35、intended to be designed according to the principles of ISO 12100 for hazards which are not dealt with in this International Standard.When requirements of this type-C standard are different from those which are stated in type-A or -B standards, the requirements of this type-C standard take precedence

39、inking or EDM drilling machines, and numerically controlled EDM wire cutting machinesintended to be adopted by persons undertaking the design, construction, installation and/or supply of such equipment. This International Standard also includes information to be provided by the manufacturer to the u
40、ser.This International Standard is not applicable to arc eroding and electro-chemical machining equipment.This International Standard takes account of the precondition of the intended use as well as the reasonably foreseeable misuse, in normal workshop environments and non-explosive atmospheres, inc
41、luding transportation, installation, setting, maintenance, repair and dismantling for removal or disposal of EDM equipment and EDM systems.This International Standard is also applicable to auxiliary devices essential for EDM processing.This International Standard deals with all significant hazards,
