FECDS A-3 Engineering CAD & Drafting Standards Version 28 TOC BOM / STOCK LIST 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 The Bil

2、l of Materials, or BOM, for Product Engineering Drawings is a required chart used to identify all Sub-Assemblies, and Components, including Gray or Black Box “Purchased in Assembly“ (PIA) parts that are used in an End-Item Assembly. BOMs contain information that is primarily used by downstream custo

3、mers such as Materials Engineering for materials listings and recyclability attributes, Pre-Production Management (PPM) for WERS component to assembly structure and Customer Service Division for service part identification and assembly structure. See Figure A-3.1. Figure A3.1 1.2 The stock list for

4、Manufacturing Assembly and Detail drawings shall be compiled as outlined in the following instructions. This list shall include all items which are detailed and components selected from commercial catalogs or Ford Motor Company Manufacturing Standards. Included sub-assemblies, where used, shall also

5、 be listed. 1.3 The complete stock list shall, where practicable, be shown on sheet #1 of the assembly drawing. See Figure A3.2. 2. DEFINITIONS 2.1 Traceability: Traceability defines the ability to understand change at any level of assembly and be able to trace back to the origins of the change thro

6、ugh the release history of a Corporate Record. 2.2 End-Item Assembly is the final level of assembly prior to shipment, and may contain Sub-Assemblies, and Components within it. All End-Item Assemblies are serviceable. 2.3 Sub-Assembly is a level of assembly between the End-Item Assembly and the lowe

7、st assembly level Component and may contain additional levels of Sub-Assembly and Components. A Sub-Assembly may or may not be serviceable. 2.4 Component (interchangeable with the word Part): is a part that is the lowest level of an assembly, or a part unto itself that cannot be disassembled any fur

8、ther without physical destruction. A Component may or may not be serviceable. A31 Printed copies are uncontrolled.ENGINEERING CAD & DRAFTING STANDARDS Return to TOC 2.5 SERVICEABLE COMPONENTS are those parts that at any level of assembly may eventually be removed and replaced in a vehicle for servic

9、e or upgrade and have interface with other mating parts. Serviceable Components at any level of assembly require that a Ford Engineering Part number be assigned, see FAP03-145. 2.6 PURCHASED IN ASSEMBLY (PIA): PIAs are any level of assembly or a Component that is delivered within an assembly but is

10、not managed by Ford unless a Ford part number is assigned or it is Build to Print. 2.7 BUILD-TO-PRINT parts are those which are designed by Ford Motor Company and manufactured by Ford or a supplier. Ford will direct the design and material(s) selection for the entire build-to-print component. 2.8 GR

11、AY BOX parts are those which are jointly designed by the supplier and Ford Motor Company. Ford may direct the design and/or material selection for portions of a gray box component. 2.9 BLACK BOX parts are defined for purposes of this standard as those which are furnished by a supplier without modifi

12、cation to Ford Motor Company (“off-the-shelf“ supplied designs). Ford must design all mating interfaces to accommodate a black box component, and accepts design and material selection as is. 2.10 INTERFACES are defined as the mating surfaces of components that are physically fastened and make contac

13、t to each other at any level of assembly, including Plant assembly. (Include service). 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 PRODUCT DRAWINGS: 3.1.1 For traceability and correctness, the BOM shall be maintained with up-to-date Ford and Supplier part numbers. The component-to-assembly structure shall match the Enginee

14、ring Release System. 3.1.1.1 Components within Ford Sub-Assemblies that are already released on a separate drawing are not required to be broken down again on the End-Item Assembly BOM. 3.1.2 BOM ROWS of the Product Engineering Drawing BOM shall list all levels of assembly, including all Sub-Assembl

15、ies and Components that comprise the End-item Assembly, regardless of Build-to-Print, Gray Box, Black Box, or PIA status. 3.1.3 BOM COLUMNS of the Product Engineering Drawing BOM are identified as follows and may be shown in any order, See Figure A-3.1. Other columns may be added provided they do no

16、t violate FECDS Standards and are not redundant to the drawing itself or the activitys engineering release system, i.e. no part usage permitted. 17、eturn to TOC 3.1.3.1 Quantity 3.1.3.1.1 The Quantity of the each component as identified in the assembly shall be shown in the QUANTITY column, see Figure A-3.1.1. 3.1.3.2 Item 3.1.3.2.1 The Item Number of the each component as identified on the drawing shall be shown in the ITEM column, see Figure

18、A-3.1.1. 3.1.3.3 Supplier Part Number 3.1.3.3.1 The Supplier part number or part identification number, if it exists, shall be listed in the SUPPLIER PART NUMBER column for all levels of the assembly as required in para. 3.1.1, including all Sub-Assemblies and their respective Components and Compone

19、nts within an End-item Assembly, unless they have already been identified on a separate drawing, see Figure A-3.1.1. 3.1.3.4 Ford Part Number NOTE: It is the responsibility of Ford Motor Company product engineering to determine when a Ford engineering part number is required for serviceable parts, g

20、overnment regulated parts, etc. per FAP03-145. 3.1.3.4.1 In the FORD PART NUMBER column, the Ford part number for all sub-assemblies & components determined to have a Ford Motor Company engineering part number shall have that part number identified in its entirety. See FAP03-145 and Figure A-3.1.1.

21、3.1.3.4.1.1 CAD File Names or IDs are not permitted in the Ford Part Number column. 3.1.3.4.1.2 Some Components to an End-Item Assembly or Sub-Assembly may not be identified with a Ford Motor Company part number. In this case, inserting PIA in the FORD PART NUMBER column is preferred. 3.1.3.4.1.3 Fo

22、rd sub-assemblies that are released on a separate Ford drawing are not required to be broken down in the Ford End-Item Assembly drawing BOM. This break down is required for each separate sub-assembly level on its own Ford drawing, see Figure A-3.1.1. 3.1.3.5 Part Name 3.1.3.5.1 When a Ford Motor Com

23、pany engineering part number is identified in the FORD PART NUMBER column of the BOM, the official Ford Motor Company part name shall be shown in the PART NAME column, see Figure A-3.1.1. The title in the BOM is to be stated exactly as it is listed within the Master Part Number Registry (MPNR) locat

25、lumn using Ford Motor Company or Industry Standard material specification callouts such as SAE, etc., unless already identified on a Ford Drawing of a different level of assembly, see Figure A-3.1.1. See Standard E-4 for the proper identification of materials. 3.1.3.7 Material Finish/Heat Treatment

26、3.1.3.7.1 Material finish and any material Post-Processing (e.g. heat treatments) shall be added to the BOM in a the FINISH/HEAT TREATMENT column using Ford Motor Company or Industry Standard material specification callouts such as SAE, etc., unless already identified on a different level of assembl

27、y, see Figure A-3.1.1. See Standard E-4 for the proper identification of finishes and post processing treatments. 3.1.3.8 Material Code 3.1.3.8.1 If any of the component materials are recyclable, the material code column shall be added using appropriate material codes for each part requiring one. Se

28、e Standard E-4 and Figure A-3.1.1. 3.1.3.9 Tabulated Assembly BOM 3.1.3.9.1 A Tabulated Assembly BOM is required to add additional Quantity columns to the BOM containing the part numbers of shown-on parts to be released. The Quantity columns can then be utilized as a matrix for component-to-assembly

29、 structure. The BOM shall list all of the components used in all assemblies with either a numeric quantity or an “X“ placed in the appropriate tabulation column for each component. Figure A-3.1.1 shows an example of a Tabulated BOM. 3.1.3.9.1.1 If the End-Item BOM lists every part level of its assem

30、bly, then any sub-assembly within that part may also be released as a shown on for that drawing when Ford product engineering directs that a Ford engineering part number is required for that sub-assembly. This practice should be avoided when the sub-assembly is common to multiple End-Item assemblies

32、 the stock list are identified as follows. See Figure A-3.2. 3.2.1.1 SYMB (Symbol) 3.2.1.1.1 The ballooned identification code assigned to each item or component shall be listed. See Standard C-3. 3.2.2.1 AMT (Amount) Components selected from commercial catalogs shall be prefixed with the $ symbol t

33、o clearly identify them as non-detailed standard items. 3.2.2.1.1 The amount or quantity of each item or component required for one assembly shall be listed. 3.2.3.1 SHT (Sheet) 3.2.3.1.1 The sheet number on which each detail or assembly is drawn. The sheet number does not represent a specific symbo

34、l or detail. The assembly sheet number on which the detail is shown shall be listed for commercial and standard components. Sheet numbering to be according to local procedure. 3.2.3.1.1.1 Exception: Control devices such as electrical hydraulics, etc., shall be included in the stock list of the perti

36、ings, patterns, forgings, and commercial or Ford Motor Company Manufacturing Standard components such as bushings, couplings, belts, etc. are to be shown with all numbers and data required for identification. 3.2.4.2.1 Stock size shall be listed where practicable and shall include allowances for fab

37、rication or machining. 3.2.4.3.1 Stock size when listed shall be specified as follows: Round Stock: diameter and length Flat, Square and Sheet Metal Stock: thickness, width and length Shapes: size, name (for example: hex) and length Pipe or Tubing: inside diameter, wall thickness and length outside

38、diameter, wall thickness and length Structural Shapes: according to structural standards 3.2.5.1 Material 3.2.5.1.1 The name of the material may be abbreviated. The Ford Motor Company Standard M number, where available, shall be listed. Other accepted standard designations, for example: SAE number m

39、ay be shown in parenthesis following the Ford Motor Company M number. Where an M number material is not available, the SAE number or other accepted standard material designation shall be listed. See Standard E-4 for the proper identification of materials, finishes and post processing treatments. The
