2、d vinyl polyester(MVP) coating suitable for interior exposure.2. APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally for enamel used on interiorparts such as aluminum station wagon load floors.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 COMPOSITION3.1.1 VehicleThe vehicle shall be a polyvinyl chloride resin modified withp

3、olymers, plasticizers, stabilizers and solvents.3.1.2 PigmentThe pig ment shall be balanced and blended so that thefinished vinyl coating matches the Ford Motor Company masterpan el in color and meets the requirements of thisspecification for durability.3.1.3 Volatile3.1.3.1 The volatile portion sha

4、ll not be photochemicallyactive as defined below:A photochemically reactive solvent is any solventwith an aggregate of more than 20 % of its totalvol ume composed of the chemical compoundscl assified below or which exceeds any of thefollowing individual percentage compositionli mitations, referred t

A combination of ethylbenzene, ketones havingbranched hydrocarbon structures,trichloroethylene or toluene - 20 %.Whenever any organic solvent or any constituent ofan or ganic solvent may be classified from itschemical structure in to more than one of the abo

7、vegroups of organic compounds, it shall be consi deredas a member of the most reactive chemical group,that is, that group having the least allowablepercent of the total volume of solvents.Enamels or primers sent to various regions of thecountry must conform to E.P.A. rules andregulations for that re

8、gion.3.1.4 Specific Composition3.1.4.1 Volatile PortionSuppliers shall furni sh certification upon requestof conformance to para 3.1.3.1 of thisspecification to Ford Motor Company for each colorsupplied.3.1.4.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTO METRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may

9、 conductinfrared and/or therm al analysis of material/partssup plied to this specification. The curvesestablished for initial approval shall constitutethe reference standard and shall be kept on fi le atthe designated material laboratory. All samplessha ll produce curves that correspond to therefere

20、y Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regul

21、ations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M99P9999-A1, unlessa different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineeringdocument for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by th

22、is specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to

23、the affected Materials Engineeringactivity its own laboratory rep ort to the specification (test results, notnominal values), the material designation and code number, and testspecim ens for Ford evaluation. Upon approval, the material will be addedto the Engineering Material Approved Source List.5.

24、 GENERAL INFORMATIONThe mate rial data included herein is for information only and is not arequirement for the supplier.5.1 FLASH POINT - 5 C5.2 FLAMMABILITYThis material represent s a potential fire hazard. The ManufacturingEngineering Department shall notify both the Plant Security and theSafety U

25、nits of its pre sence in the Plant to assure that proper fireprecautions are provided. The location in which it is used or storedshall be included in the notifications.5.3 APPLICATION TECHNIQUESThe use of a primer with the material defined by this specificationis not requ ired. A flash or baked prim

26、er may be used uponrecommendation of the specific vendor if essenti al to the performanceof his product.
