2、 RESISTANT, ESB-M2P120-A EPOXY POWDER COATINGS 1. SCOPE This specification defines the performance requirements for thermosetting epoxy powder coatings as applied to unprimed steel. The powder coating shall pro vide excellent corrosion resistance properties for non - visible applications. 2. APPLICA
3、TION This specification was released originally as a coating specified for bumper attachment and reinforcement components as an isolation coating between the steel com ponents and aluminum bumpers. 3. REQUIREMENTS Material specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materi
4、als. 3.1 QUALITY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Quality System Requirements. 3.2 SYSTEM COMPONENTS 3.2.1 Substrates CRLC, HRLC, HSLA steels. 3.2.2 Metal Preparation Zinc phosphate coating per ESB -M3P1 or iron phosphate coating per ESB - M3P2.
5、3.2.3 Powder Coating (Ref. para 5.1) A fully cure d single coating of thermosetting epoxy powder coating characteristic of the properties described in para 3.2 and 3.3. Rust, corrosion creepage, or loss of adhesion more than 1/8 in (3.2 mm) from the scribe line, near the edges or around holes. . Blistering or rust spot s in any areas. 3.5 FINISHED PARTS
8、3.5.1 This specification applies to finished parts which are defined as parts painted with the complete system including phosphate coating and powder coating as described in para 3.1. 3.5.2 When it is not feasible to test the actual part because of its size, laboratory panels may be substituted. Tes
9、t panels shall be processed concurrently with parts and shall be representative of parts with respect to substrate, phosphate coating, powder coating thickness and bake and all other operations. 3.5.3 All parts shall be aged 16 h at 43 C or 72 h above 23 +/ - 2 C before testing for resistance proper

Prior to m
11、aking any changes to the material originally approved under this specification, whether or not such changes affect the materials ability to meet the specification requirements, the Supplier shall notify the affected Purchasing, and Materials Engineering activities (with reasons) of the proposed chan
12、ges. Upon notification of the Company, further instructions will be provided. Note: Suppliers should be prepared to provide test d ata and samples demonstrating compliance to this specification, if requested. Substance restrictions imposed by regulations or Company direction applies to the materials
13、 addressed by this document. The restrictions are identified in Restricted Substance Management Standard WSS - M99P9999 - A1. 4. APPROVAL OF SUPPLIERS: Materials defined by this specification for direct supply to the Company must have prior approval. Certain materials subcontracted by part suppliers
14、 may also require prior approval. These include materials critical to the Companys business for regulatory, safety, environmental or compatibility requirements or contractual agreements. Suppliers desiring approval of their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from Purchasing , Des
15、ign or Materials Engineering activity. Upon request, the Supplier shall submit a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstrating full compliance with all the req uirements of this specification. 5.
