SCOPEThe materials defined by these specifications are polish resistant,thermosetting acrylic baking enamels suitable for exterior exposure onlarge, highly visible surfaces.2. APPLICAT

3、IONThese specifications were released originally for enamels used as finalcolor coats on exterior parts where a low or medium gloss is required.It shall be satisfactory for use over specified primers, enamel sealers,or over baked ESB-M32J100 quality enamel.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1.1 VehicleThe fixed vehic

4、les shall be melamine modified, acrylicpolymers with minor amounts of plasticizers. No alkydresins are permitted.The proportions of solvents in the volatile portion shallbe so arranged that the enamels will level outsatisfactorily on spray application. The volatility of thesolvents is to be so chose

5、n that three medium wet spraycoats will give a dried film of at least 0.0015 in (39m)without sagging and with satisfactory freedomfrom roughness or dry spray. The volatile portion shallcontain sufficient active solvents to give satisfactoryadhesion when the enamel is applied over a previously bakedc

6、oat of ESB-M32J100 quality enamel.3.1.2 PigmentThe pigments shall be balanced and blended so that thefinished enamels match the Ford Motor Company master panelin color and luster and meets the requirements of thesespecifications for durability and polish resistance.3.1.3 Specific CompositionWhen it

7、is necessary to obtain specific data regardingenamel formulations, it is understood that suppliers willfurnish such data on request.3.1.4 ToxicityThe enamels shall contain no benzol (benzene), chlorinatedor other toxic compounds, or hydrolyzable chlorinederivatives or have an obnoxious or objectiona

Let flash 1 min and apply ESB-M6J103(reduced to 17 +/- 2 s, #4 Ford Cup with M14J245) to0.00125 - 0.00150 in (3

13、2 - 38 m) total dry filmthickness. Bake at 149 +/- 2 C for 15 min.3.3.2 Wet sand to 0.00075 - 0.0010 in (19 - 25 m) dryfilm thickness with 360 grit paper. Rinse to remove sludgeand dry 5 min at 138 +/- 2 C. Cool to 23 +/- 2 C beforeproceedingLeave 1/2 of one panel unsanded for adhesion tests.3.3.3 E

14、namel SealerApply ESB-M99J126 or ESB-M99J222 (reduced to 22 s, #4 FordCup at 27 C with M14J210) to 0.00050 - 0.00075 in (13-19 m)dry film thickness. Bake 20 min at 137 +/- 2 C.3.3.4 SandWet sand to 0.00075 - 0.0010 in (19 - 25 m) dryfilm thickness with 360 grit paper. Rinse to remove sludgeand dry 1

34、ll furnish certification of conformance topara 3.7 of this specification to Ford Motor CompanyPurchasing and/or Quality Control.3.9 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYMaterial supplied to this specification must be equivalent to thatoriginally approved. Changes in formulation or processing shallnot be made wit

35、hout prior approval as described in SupplierProcedure I-A.4. APPROVAL OF SUPPLIERSSuppliers to this specification must be approved by the affected productengineering office. Procedure for gaining approval of a specificmaterial to a new/existing ES-M specification is contained in SupplierProcedure I-A. Approved new suppliers will be added to the EngineeringMaterials Approved Source List.
