2、cation is an extruded hot meltthermosetting polyolefin based sealer which is non-flowable.2. APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally for materials used overelectrocoated steel to seal horizontal and vertical lap joints, such as onthe floor pan, and recessed joints such as quarter panel

3、 to rocker panel.It is suitable for use involving interior exposure and is paintable withtopcoat enamels presenting an acceptable appearance free from tackiness,checks and porosity. Slight yellow staining is acceptable. Not suitable forClass “A“ surfaces.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie

4、rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStandard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatistical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously r

5、educed.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISAll samples shall produce spectra or thermograms that correspond tothe reference standard when tested under the same conditions. Theinfrared spectra or thermograms established for initial approvalshall constitute the reference standard and

6、 shall be kept on file atthe designated material laboratory.3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONSAll test values indicated herein are based on materials conditionedin a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under thesame

12、t the panels for 15 minutes at 90 +/- 2 C prior tosealer application. Remove panels from oven, cool, and measure the increase indimension. Save panels for para 3.10.2.3.10 LOW TEMPERATURE RESISTANCE No cra

14、cking oradhesion failure3.10.1 Flexib ility: The sealer must withstand a 180 degree bendaround a 25 mm diameter mandrel at 23 +/- 2 C and - 30 +/- 2C.3.10.2 Adhesion: Place the panels prepared in para 3.9 in theslamming apparatus desc ribed in FLTM BV 101-02 and condition4 h at - 30 +/- 2 C. 15、el shall be slammed a total ofsix times.3.11 REFLOW RESISTANCE No loss of adhesion or reflow afterfive cyclesTest Method: Apply an extruded section of sealer 150 x 25 x 1.5 -2.0 mm lon g on a 75 x 225 x 0.8 mm panel per 5.3 and bake per para5.4. Expose each sample for 5 cycles, each cycle consisting

16、 of:. 4 h at 90 +/- 2 C. 4 h at 38 +/- 2 C and 100 % R.H. 16 h at - 30 +/- 2 C. 4 h at 38 +/- 2 C and 100 % R.H. 4 h at 90 +/- 2 C. 16 h at - 30 +/- 2 C3.12 BRIDGING The material shall not separate orflow through gap.Sample Preparation:. Horizontal Bridging - Apply an extruded secti on of sealer 250

17、 x 40x 1.5 - 2.0 mm to tw o electrocoated test fixtures as in Figure 1.Electrocoat per para 5.3. Vertical Bridging - Apply an extruded section of sealer 150 x 50x 1.5 - 2.0 mm to tw o electrocoated test fixtures as in figure 2.Electrocoat per para 5.3.Test Method:. Bake the test assemblies according

18、 to the bak e schedules indicatedin para 5.4. Remove and evaluate for separation or gaps in the material. 19、ligh t. Under these storage conditions, the shelf life of thematerial shall be three months. When these materials are stored attemperatures below 23 C, they shall be conditioned at R.T. prior toapplication. Adequate conditioning permits the m aterial to obtain itsoptimum application properties.3.14

20、FUNCTIONAL APPROVALMaterials being evaluat ed for initial approval to this specificationshall be subjected to a production functional trial. The functionaltrial results shall be available to design and material engineeringactivities prior to material approval and release.3.15 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

21、Specific requirements for material and/or manufa ctured parts shall bespecified on the engineering drawing, engineerin g parts specificationand/or performance specifications. All critical areas with respect tothese properties shall be designated on the Engineering drawing.3.16 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILI

22、TYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inal l characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Pri or to making any change in the properties, composition,constr uction, color, processing or labeling of the materialorig inally approved under this sp

23、ecification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology, andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. 24、est data, test samples, and a new co de identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations, or Ford apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M99P9999-A1, unlessa differe

APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Supp

26、liers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffe cted Purchasing, Design, and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, si

27、gned by aqualified and authorized representative of the test faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtes t specimens for Ford evaluation. In addition to meeting therequi

28、rements of this specification, the materials will be assessed forsuita bility for intended applications as part of the approval process.Upo n approval, the material will be added to the Engineering MaterialApproved Source List.5.
