APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally for materials used overelectrocoated steel to seal horizontal and vertical lap joints, such as onthe floor pan, and recessed joints such as quarter panel
3、 to rocker panel.It is suitable for use involving interior exposure and is paintable withtopcoat enamels presenting an acceptable appearance free from tackiness,checks and porosity. Slight yellow staining is acceptable. Not suitable forClass “A“ surfaces.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie
4、rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStandard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatistical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously r
5、educed.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISAll samples shall produce spectra or thermograms that correspond tothe reference standard when tested under the same conditions. Theinfrared spectra or thermograms established for initial approvalshall constitute the reference standard and
6、 shall be kept on file atthe designated material laboratory.3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONSAll test values indicated herein are based on materials conditionedin a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under thesame

19、ligh t. Under these storage conditions, the shelf life of thematerial shall be three months. When these materials are stored attemperatures below 23 C, they shall be conditioned at R.T. prior toapplication. Adequate conditioning permits the m aterial to obtain itsoptimum application properties.3.14
20、FUNCTIONAL APPROVALMaterials being evaluat ed for initial approval to this specificationshall be subjected to a production functional trial. The functionaltrial results shall be available to design and material engineeringactivities prior to material approval and release.3.15 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
21、Specific requirements for material and/or manufa ctured parts shall bespecified on the engineering drawing, engineerin g parts specificationand/or performance specifications. All critical areas with respect tothese properties shall be designated on the Engineering drawing.3.16 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILI
22、TYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inal l characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Pri or to making any change in the properties, composition,constr uction, color, processing or labeling of the materialorig inally approved under this sp

Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, si
27、gned by aqualified and authorized representative of the test faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtes t specimens for Ford evaluation. In addition to meeting therequi
