SCOPEThe mate rials defined by these specifications are epoxy type primersurfacers with good adhesion an d enamel holdout properties when applied toreinforced polyester

3、 plastic surfaces.2. APPLICATIONThese specifications were released originally for material used as primersurfacers for glass fiber reinf orced polyester plastics. Subsequently, anex terior acrylic enamel color coat is generally applied. Two types ofprimers are defined as follows:Type I Conductive pr

4、imer - re commended when enamel color coat is appliedwith electrostatic spray equipment.Type II Non-conductive primer - recommended when enamel color coat isapplied with conventional spray equipment.3. REQUIREMENTSThe material shall meet all detailed requirements of this specification.Tests shal l b

12、ith aminimum of sand scratch es. The material shall be equivalentin all respects to current approved production p rimer appliedand tested under identical conditions.3.5.2 Production TrialFi nal approval of sanding characteristics shall be made bythe using manufacturing division of the material or pa

13、intedpart on the basis of a shop trial under productioncon ditions. Disposition on conductivity of Type I primershall also be made.3.5.3 Adhesion(FLTM BI 106-01)Test material versus current approved production primer. Bothprimer adhesion to plastic and enamel adhesion to sanded orunsanded primer sha

14、ll be satisfactory, with no chipping.3.5.4 Electrical Conductivity (Type I), min 125(Ransburg Electro-Coating Corp. Model236 Sprayability Meter or Equivalent)3.6 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES3.6.1 Chip Resistance(FLTM BI 7-1)Prepare according to para 3.3 using current approvedpro duction primer for comparis

15、on, and ESB-M33J100 qualitycolor coat.3.6.2 Water Immersion, min 240 h(FLTM BI 104-01)No blistering or loss of gloss.3.6.3 Florida ExposurePanels, prepared as in para 3.3, scribed with an “X“ to bareplastic and exposed in the Miami, Florida area at 5 degfacing south for 12 months, shall show no blis

A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for mat

Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.8 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inal l characteristics to the material upon whic

18、h approval wasoriginally granted.Pri or to making any change in the properties, composition,constr uction, color, processing or labeling of the materialorig inally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the

19、Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions i

20、mposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng a

21、ctivity. Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test

22、 reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of the test faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtes t specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering ap

23、proval of amateri al will be based on its performance to this specification and on anassessment of suitability for i ntended processes and/or applications. Uponapprov al, the material will be added to the Engineering Material ApprovedSource List.5. GENERAL INFORMATIONThe information below is provide

The ManufacturingEngineering Depa

25、rtment shall notify both the Plant Security and theSafety Units of its pre sence in the Plant to assure that proper fireprecautions are provided. The location in which it is used or storedshall be included in the notification.5.3 TOXICITYThe material shall be non-toxic and shall not cause skin rash

26、orirritation (dermatitis) to exposed handlers in normal productionoperations.Benzene and chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents are considered toxic andtheir use is strictly prohibited in compounding material to thisspecification.5.4 ZINC REACTIVITYThis material is highly zinc reactive and, therefore, should not bestored or used in galvanized or zinc-lined tanks or equipment.5.5 APPLICABLE SPECIFICATIONSSubstrate ESB-M3D101 or as specified onengineering drawing.Primer ESB-M6J106Enamels ESB-M30J100 or ESB-M32J 100 quality
