2、ation This method is used to determine the capability of automotive cable to resist pinching or compression at high temperature. This method is applicable to both stan dard and thin wall insulation cable. Apparatus Required Temperature Cabinet Capable of maintaining 250 +/ - 5 C with forced ventilat
3、ion Test Apparatus - see Figure 1 Optical Measuring Device Accurate to at least 0.01 mm Weights Appropriate for requir ements as specified in Table 1 Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/ - 2 C and 50 +
4、/ - 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tes ted under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure 1. Prepare test specimen as required by the relevant Engineering Materials Specification. 2. For thin wall insulation, install specimen cable into test appara
5、tus, as shown in Figure 1. Load it with weight as specified in Table 2 and leave it for 4 h at the temperature specified in the Engineering Materials Specification in a temperature cabinet. 3. For standard wall insulation, install specimen cable into test apparatus, as shown in F igure 1. Load it wi
6、th weight as specified in Table 1 and leave it for 4 h at the temperature specified in the Engineering Materials Specification in a temperature cabinet. 7、bmerging in cold water at 15 +/ - 2 C. 5. Carefully remove the conductor without deformation of the insulation. Section the test specimen along the center line shown in Figure 2 perpendicular to the axis of the specimen. 6. Measure the minimum thickness of the compressed insulation (s ee Figure 2),
8、using an optical measuring device. 7. Compare the measured thickness with the values specified in Table 1 or 2 as applicable and report.
