11、, Ford Global Technologies, Inc. Preparation of Hydraulic Test Pump Interior Components (Ring and Vanes) Since the test conclusions are based on the weight loss of the test pump ring and vanes after 1000 h operation, it is essential that they are prepared in a prescribed manner for determining their

12、 original weight. 1. Remove burrs or other machined irregularities from ring vanes and bushings with an Arkansas hand stone or equivalent. 2. Verify the hardness of the rings and vanes to be HRC 60-63 (harder or softer materials could provide misleading wear data). 3. Submerge ring vanes and bushing

Submerge components individually in a trichloroethane rinse bath, followed by an acetone rinse and finally a methanol rinse. 5. Allow components to completely air dry before determining

14、weight. 6. Weigh ring and vanes set independently on an analytical balance to the nearest 0.0001 g. Note: Bushing weights are not included as part of this test. Preparation of Hydraulic Fluid Test Stand Prior to Scheduled Test 1. Prepare pump for flushing by first immersing a cleaned pump cartridge

15、(ring, vanes, rotor and bushings) designated for flushing into a container filled with fluid to be tested. 2. After flush cartridge is thoroughly saturated, insert it into test pump. Reassemble pump according to manufacturers procedure. 3. Install a 10 micron replaceable pleated paper filter element

16、 into retainer (see diagram). 4. Fill reservoir with 75 L of fluid scheduled for test. 5. Open pump full-flow inlet valve and allow fluid to flow from reservoir to pump inlet. 6. Loosen in-line sight indicator glass located at pump inlet. Fluid will replace entrained air escaping through loose sight

17、 glass opening. Manually rotate pump shaft to draw fluid into the pump inlet before tightening the sight glass. 7. Electrically jog the electrical drive motor until all entrained air is purged from the system. FORD LABORATORY TEST METHOD BJ 001-03 Page 4 of 6 Copyright 2001, Ford Global Technologies

If the system was previously contaminated by a highly oxidized fluid, a longer flush cycle or second fluid change is required. 9. Disassemble pump and remove bushings, rotor, vanes and ring. A 4 litre sample can now be retrieved from the reservoir through the open-ended pu

Drain reservoir and record its condition as to accumulation of sludge, metallic or other foreign matter. 14. Examine pump components for evidence of deterioration due to corrosion or erosion. 15.
