Making a longitudinal slice from the circumferential cut will allow the coating to be easily stripped away f

6、rom the wire. 3. Place the stripped end of the cable in the stripping block and snug (i.e. tighten down) the set screws. 4. Place the stripping block in a bench vise and fan the outer layer of wire from the core wire. (See Figure 1 and 3.) Caution: The wire ends will be sharp. 5. Grasp the center co

12、. Apply the tensile load to the cable coating as shown in Figure 4 using a cross-head speed of 25 mm/minute. The cable coating should elongate the entire gage length. Record the load required to elongate the coating. Stop the tensile tester immediately when the “draw down“(i.e. uniform necking prior

13、 to fracture) reaches the opposite jaw and measure the total separation between the jaws (L + L)*. 3. Remove the sample from the jaws and visually check for any jaw slippage. If any slippage has occurred, disregard the results from the sample. 4. Calculate and report the elongation of at least three

14、 samples. Also report the load to elongate. * If the sample breaks before complete “draw down“, stop the tensile tester immediately and measure the total separation between the jaws (L + L). Report the elongation, the load to elongate and note that the sample broke before complete “draw down“. Chemi
