1、FORD LABORATORY TEST METHOD BP 154-01 2001 O925 EXTRACTABLES IN FUEL HOSE Revised Editorial - no technical change A. Cockman Application This method is used to determine the fuel soluble and insoluble material that is released when a polymeric fuel or vapor hose is exposed to a fueValcohol blend. 1.

Place the sealed hose vertically into the pressure vessel (small diameter tubing may be coiled inside the vessel). Secure the p

At the end of the first 24 hour exposure, carefully remove the pressure vessel from the oven, and allow it to cool to room temperature. Carefully release any pressure in the vessel, open the vessel, and invert each sample so that the

Gently agitate the liquid contents for 30 to 45 seconds by rocking end-to-end, occasionally rolling the sample to assure that all of the I.D. of hose receives agitation. Carefully remove one clamp an

Remove the second clamp and plug from the tube, and using the wash bottle, wash the inside of the tube three times with approximately 10mL of CEIO per wash. The wash solution should be collected into the gum beaker. Repeat steps 13 and 1

Observe for the presence of particles, cloudiness or flocculent in the fuel, and record. Also record any changes to the inside of the fuel tube. Page 2 o

Perform unwashed gum content (ASTM D 381) on each sample, include washed gums if any material was noted in step 17. Substitute Fuel C for
12、nheptane as the wash solvent when running the washed gums. 20. On samples being submitted for initial approval, perform Infrared analysis of the unwashed and washed gums (if present) and keep the trace on file. Calculation Calculate the amount of extractables by the following equation: Extractables
13、(g/1 OOmL/m2) = (grams of residue x 2) / inside area of tube in m2 Report Report the soluble and insoluble extractables to the nearest 0.1 g/100mL/m2. Report individual value for each run, along with the mean value. Report any visual changes to the fuel or hose during the test. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities.
