2、E USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE The specification defines the performance of resin bonded PTFE coating. 2. APPLICATION The specification was released originally for coating applied to metallic parts to provide self-lubrication and wear resistance to bearing surfaces such as suspension thrust washers

3、and to impart an anti-fouling surface to certain carburetor components. 3. REQUIREMENTS Tests to be carried out on components where configuration and size permits. Where this is not possible, suitable test panels, made from the same material and prepared in the same manner as the component, should b

4、e used. 3.1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS The PTFE coating shall be uniform in color, hiding power and coverage and free from obvious imperfections as determined by unaided visual examination. The coating shall be smooth to the touch and free from cracks when observed at a magnification of 10X. 3.2 SPECIFIC

5、REQUIREMENTS 3.2.1 Coating Thickness (FLTM EU-BI 17-1) 15 - 45 microns unless otherwise indicated on Engineering drawing. 3.2.2 Adhesion No chipping or flaking (FLTM EU-BI 6-1, Method B) ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION SA-M99P9100-A Page 2 of 2 3.2.3 Resistance to Methanol Fuel No peeling, cracki

8、1) Note: Where the substrate on the component is non-ferrous, this test may be waived. 3.4 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSIS Ford Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/or thermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification. The IR spectra and thermogra

9、ms established for initial approval shall constitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at the designated material laboratory. All samples shall produce IR spectra and thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when tested under the same conditions. 3.5 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBIL

10、ITY All materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent in all characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted. 11、g or labeling of the material originally approved under this specification, whether or not such changes affect the materials ability to meet the specification requirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology and the affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changes and ob

12、tain the written approval of the Materials Engineering activity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification are to be submitted with the request. Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply to the materials addressed by this document. The restrictions are defined in

13、Engineering Materials Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1. 4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALS Materials defined by this specification must have prior approval by the responsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approval of their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from the affec

14、ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Upon request, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineering activity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstrating full compliance

15、 with all the requirements of this specification (test results, not nominal values), the material designation and code number, and test specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of a material will be based on its performance to this specification and on an assessment of suitability for intended processes and/or applications. Upon approval, the material will be added to the Engineering Material Approved Source List.
