PURPOSE This Standard establishes the principles for the Composition of Data Numbers for Manufacturing Engineering, Ford Motor Company,

、Worldwide. It explains how Numbers are constructed. The system of Manufacturing Data Numbers shall be used to identify Data related to equipment (machines, assemblies, or tooling) and processes used in the manufacturing of vehicles produced by the Ford Motor Company, Worldwide. 1.1. Applicability/Sc

All Data numbers assigned as of this standard publication date

、shall follow this standard. 1.2. Training : 1.2.1. Shall be managed by each local activity as necessary 2. DEFINITIONS Data The numerical or graphical representation (electronic or manual), which is used to analyze, design or describe both equipment and processes used in the manufacturing of vehicle

、s. Identical Equipment Duplicate pieces of equipment that are maintained and updated simultaneously throughout Ford Motor Company. Similar Equipment Equipment that is identical when originally received by Ford Motor Company, but has been modified during the life of the equipment. 3. INSTRUCTIONS/REQ

、UIREMENTS The system of Manufacturing Data Numbers shall be used to identify Data for equipment and processes used in the manufacturing of vehicles produced by the Ford Motor Company, Worldwide. The system is predicated on the significance of a classification number. Printed Copies are Uncontrolled

、Page 2 of 11 Standard Number w-FX1 Issue Date: 19990331 Global Manufacturing Standards Rev: 20050608 Once a classification number is assigned for a specific function any subsequent identification of parts having the same function shall require the use of the same classification number. Exceptions to

、 the above occur when: Nomenclature becomes outdated. The function identified is no longer the prime function and retention of the basic number is desired. Each Manufacturing Division or Operation shall be responsible for administering and assigning the Manufacturing Data Numbers. Each piece of manu

、facturing equipment (including identical equipment) shall be assigned only one Data Number. NOTE: In the event that two different data numbers have been assigned to a piece of manufacturing equipment, the manufacturing number on the data carrying the earliest date takes precedence and the other manu

、facturing number must be canceled or renumbered. NOTE: Identical equipment shall be assigned one data number. A unique manufacturing Data Number shall be assigned to identify each piece of similar equipment. A unique Data Number shall be assigned to each of the following Layouts (machine, trunking,
