2、c based repair primer filler. The ratio of the twocompon ents is specified by the supplier, following application the systemmay be air dried or force dried.2. APPLICATIONThis speci fication was released originally for a material to be used inconjunct ion with a primer component as a priming system f

3、or sand-throughareas on exterior automotive body surfaces.The primer is applied directly over the substrate follow ing damage and sandthrough, primed surface may then be lightly sanded and overcoated witheither acid catalysed body stoving enamel or an approved two pack repairena mel system depending

4、 on the particular stage in the Painting processthat the damage has been sustained in.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStand ard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approv

5、al. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continually reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company in its option, may conduct in frared and/or thermalana lysis of materials/parts supplie

6、d to this specification. The IRspectra and thermograms established for initial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated Material Laboratory. All samples sha ll produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedun

7、der the same conditions.ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONWSK-M6J172-A2WP 3948-b Page 2 of 4 3.3 CONDITIONINGTest panels with stoved paint systems shall be aged for 72 h at 23+/- 2 C or 16 h at 43 +/- 2 C before testing for resistanceproperties unless otherwise specified.Test panels with completely

8、air drying paint systems shall be agedfor 7 days at 23 +/- 2 C or 36 h at 43 +/- 2 C before testing forresistance properties unless otherwise specified. Al l tests according to this specification shall be performed in acontrolled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 - 65 % relative humidityif not otherwi

13、 test panels in accordance with testmethod ie. phosphated t est panels, UMA 18004 or 18005 coatedwith current body painting system; cathodic electrocoat,primer surfacer, and topcoat enamel.3.8.2 Spot Repair SimulationRub th rough the standard paint system 3.8.1 to bare steelusing the “feathering tec

14、hnique“ with the approp riate wet/drysa nd paper. Clean the created spot-repair area with anappropriate degreasing solvent, then allow to dry and “tackoff“.Mix the hardener and primer in the recomended ra tio and applythree coats of the two pack primer system, 25 - 35micrometres.Enamels containing a

15、cid catalyst. Bake 10 minutes at 100 Cmetal temperature.3.9 FILM AND RESISTANCE PROPERTIESRefe r to corresponding primer material specification forrequired resistance properties of the applied two componentpriming system.3.10 PAINT COMPATABILITYPri or to making any changes in properties and/or compo

16、sition ofori ginally approved paint, the supplier must certify compliance toall requirements of direct glazing system specif ication (test values,not nominal values) and obtain approval from the responsibleMaterials Engineering activity. 18、 the properties, composition,constr uction, color, processing or labeling of the materialorig inally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Ma

19、terials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addre

20、ssed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresp onsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approvalof thei r materials shall f

21、irst obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of

22、 the test faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtes t specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of amateri al will be based on its performance to this s

23、pecification and on anassessment of suitability for i ntended processes and/or applications. Uponapprov al, the material will be added to the Engineering Material ApprovedSource List.5.
