I

7、t is founded onbroad-based principles that make possible the use of new materials and new energy-efficientdesigns. This 2018 edition is fully compatible with all of the International Codes(I-Codes) pub-lished by the International Code Council(ICC), including the International Building Code, Interna-

8、tional Existing Building Code, International Fire Code, International Fuel Gas Code, InternationalGreen Construction Code, International Mechanical Code, International Plumbing Code, Interna-tional Private Sewage Disposal Code, International Property Maintenance Code, International Res-idential Code

9、, International Swimming Pool and Spa Code, International Wildland-Urban InterfaceCode, International Zoning Codeand International Code Council Performance Code.This code contains separate provisions for commercial buildings and for low-rise residentialbuildings (3 stories or less in height above gr

Each set of provisions, IECCCommercial Provi-sions and IECCResidential Provisions, is separately applied to buildings within its respective scope.Each set of provisions is to be treated separately. Reference works related to building design and construction.In addition to the codes themselves, the code development process brings together building pro-fessionals on

16、 a regular basis. It provides an international forum for discussion and deliberationabout building design, construction methods, safety, performance requirements, technologicaladvances and innovative products.DevelopmentThis 2018 edition presents the code as originally issued, with changes reflected

17、 in the 2000 through2015 editions and further changes approved through the ICC Code Development Process through2017. A new edition such as this is promulgated every 3 years.iv 2018 INTERNATIONAL ENERGY CONSERVATION CODEThis code is founded on principles intended to establish provisions consistent wi

18、th the scope ofan energy conservation code that adequately conserves energy; provisions that do not unnecessar-ily increase construction costs; provisions that do not restrict the use of new materials, products ormethods of construction; and provisions that do not give preferential treatment to part

19、icular typesor classes of materials, products or methods of construction.MaintenanceThe International Energy Conservation Code is kept up to date through the review of proposedchanges submitted by code enforcement officials, industry representatives, design professionalsand other interested parties.

20、 Proposed changes are carefully considered through an open codedevelopment process in which all interested and affected parties may participate.The ICC Code Development Process reflects principles of openness, transparency, balance, dueprocess and consensus, the principles embodied in OMB Circular A

21、-119, which governs the federalgovernments use of private-sector standards. The ICC process is open to anyone; there is no cost toparticipate, and people can participate without travel cost through the ICCs cloud-based app, cdp-Access. A broad cross section of interests are represented in the ICC Co

22、de Development Process.The codes, which are updated regularly, include safeguards that allow for emergency action whenrequired for health and safety reasons.In order to ensure that organizations with a direct and material interest in the codes have a voicein the process, the ICC has developed partne

23、rships with key industry segments that support theICCs important public safety mission. Some code development committee members were nomi-nated by the following industry partners and approved by the ICC Board: National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC)Th

24、e code development committees evaluate and make recommendations regarding proposedchanges to the codes. Their recommendations are then subject to public comment and council-widevotes. The ICCs governmental memberspublic safety officials who have no financial or businessinterest in the outcomecast th

25、e final votes on proposed changes.The contents of this work are subject to change through the code development cycles and by anygovernmental entity that enacts the code into law. 45、n Code (IECC) is a model code that regulates minimum energyconservation requirements for new buildings. The IECC addresses energy conservation require-ments for all aspects of energy uses in both commercial and residential construction, includingheating and ventilating, lighting, water heating, and

46、power usage for appliances and building sys-tems. The IECC is a design document. For example, before one constructs a building, the designer mustdetermine the minimum insulation R-values and fenestration U-factors for the building exteriorenvelope. Depending on whether the building is for residentia

47、l use or for commercial use, the IECCsets forth minimum requirements for exterior envelope insulation, window and door U-factors andSHGC ratings, duct insulation, lighting and power efficiency, and water distribution insulation.Arrangement and Format of the 2018 IECCThe IECC contains two separate se

48、ts of provisionsone for commercial buildings and one for resi-dential buildings. Each set of provisions is applied separately to buildings within their scope. TheIECCCommercial Provisions apply to all buildings except for residential buildings three stories orless in height. The IECCResidential Prov

49、isions apply to detached one- and two-family dwellingsand multiple single-family dwellings as well as Group R-2, R-3 and R-4 buildings three stories or lessin height. These scopes are based on the definitions of “Commercial building” and “Residentialbuilding,” respectively, in Chapter 2 of each set of provisions.
