4、ce: Replaced “International Truck and Engine Corporation” with “Navistar, Inc.” per corporate directive. 1.0 SCOPE This is a method for evaluating the resistance of a dry paint film to aromatic hydrocarbons. 2.0 APPARATUS 2.1 Recirculating oven capable of maintaining 60 + 3C (140 + 5F) 2.2 Timer wit

5、h sweep second arm 3.0 MATERIAL 3.1 Xylene, industrial grade. 3.2 Gauze pads 3.3 Bonderite CD-10 or Bonderite 958 zinc phosphated steel panel, 100 x 150 mm (4 x 6 inches), available from Advanced Coatings Technologies, 273 Industrial Drive, Hillsdale, Michigan 49242. 4.0 PROCEDURE 4.1 Prepare a pane

6、l according to procedure specified for the appropriate grade enamel per Test Method GT-13, Panel Preparation. 4.2 Age panel at 60 + 3C (140 + 5F) for 72 hours and cool to 21 to 27C (70 to 80F). 4.3 Saturate gauze pad with xylene and rub a section of the painted surface with a circular motion ten rev

7、olutions in 10 + 2 seconds. Pressure exerted should be light to moderate and the radius of the arc will be 25 to 32 mm (1.00 to 1.25 inches). 4.4 Check immediately for color pickup on the gauze and softening of the surface. After a 30 minute recovery period, check for swelling, color change or softening. One or more of the above will constitute a failure. 5.0 REPORT Report pass or fail.
