7、E) iFOREWORDITU (International Telecommunication Union) is the United Nations Specialized Agency in the field oftelecommunications. The ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) is a permanent organ of the ITU.Some 179 member countries, 84 telecom operating entities, 145 scientific and in

8、dustrial organizations and38 international organizations participate in ITU-T which is the body which sets world telecommunications standards(Recommendations).The approval of Recommendations by the Members of ITU-T is covered by the procedure laid down in WTSCResolution No. 1 (Helsinki, 1993). In ad

9、dition, the World Telecommunication Standardization Conference (WTSC),which meets every four years, approves Recommendations submitted to it and establishes the study programme for thefollowing period.In some areas of information technology which fall within ITU-Ts purview, the necessary standards a

10、re prepared on acollaborative basis with ISO and IEC. The text of ITU-T Recommendation X.730/Amendment 1 Corrigendum 1 wasapproved on 5th of October 1996. The identical text is also published as ISO/IEC International Standard 10164-1._NOTEIn this Recommendation, the expression “Administration” is us

13、sibility of using other communications protocols for the transfer of systems management messages betweenOperations Systems (OS). This constrains industry from adoption of other applicable communications solutions whilststill remaining compliant to OSI systems management functions. This Technical cor

14、rigendum makes provision for othercommunications protocols to be used although it does not specify what these are. It further corrects an ambiguity thatcan cause an Operations Systems (OS) implementor to develop software that will not work correctly with anothervendors OS product for a small number
