、 _ Foreword This standard test method presents information on carbon dioxide (CO2) environment testing at pressures greater than atmospheric pressure and temperatures of 50C (122F) or greater.(1)It is intended to serve as a tool in the evaluation of elastomeric materials for use in the oil field and
、 other energy-related areas where CO2gaseous environments are encountered. The use of one standard test method allows engineers who evaluate these materials to compare data from separate laboratories that use this method. The precision of this test method and reproducibility within and among laborat
、ories has not been established. The user of this standard is encouraged to establish statistical significance of the data resulting from this test method. Other technical organizations may have comparable standard test methods. No attempt or implication is made to establish any pass/fail criteria fo
、r material tested by this method. The change in properties of an elastomeric material is indicative of its resistance to a specific environment. This test method can be regarded only as a relative measure of the resistance of a material under the conditions of this particular test, and does not nece
、ssarily have any direct relation to service performance. The significance of the results can be determined only by each laboratory for its particular application. This standard was originally prepared in 1997 by NACE International Task Group T-1G-26, a component of Unit Committee T-1G on Protective
、Coatings, Elastomers, and Other Nonmetallic Materials for Oilfield Use. This standard was reaffirmed in 2002 and 2008 by Specific Technology Group (STG) 33Oil and Gas Production: Nonmetallics and Wear Coatings (Metallic). NACE International technical committees are composed of industry representativ

、 constrained state. If the state is constrained, the fixture design shall be agreed on by the parties involved. 1.3 This standard sets forth procedures for the preparation of test specimens and equipment to be used, the test procedures to be followed, and procedures for reporting test results. The t
、est results are determined by monitoring changes in physical and mechanical properties as well as changes in appearance of the test specimen after exposure to CO2. 1.4 In view of the wide range of service conditions, this standard is intended only to provide a means of initial material evaluation an
、d comparison. The test results are not intended to provide any direct correlation with service performance. This standard is useful in conducting research and development of elastomeric vulcanizates. 1.5 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: This test involves the use of high-pressure CO2. The appropriate safety prec

、Section 4: Test Conditions 4.1 Test Temperature 4.1.1 The test shall be performed at one of the following temperatures: 50, 100, 120, 150, 175, or 230 3C (122, 212, 248, 302, 347, or 446 5F). The test temperature shall be stated in the test report. 4.2 Test Pressure 4.2.1 The test shall be performed

The pressure at test temperature shall be stated in the test report. 4.3 Test Exposure Period 4.3.1 The test exposure period shall be 24 1 h minimum. Other test exposure periods are permitted
、 and shall be agreed on prior to testing by parties requesting and performing the test. 4.3.2 The test exposure period shall be defined as the period elapsed from the time the test pressure and test temperature are established until the time the test pressure is discontinued or released. _ (2)Refer
