7、nion Station, Chicago, Illinois 60606. ) 3. REQLXREIVIENTS 3.1 Sample. - Samples are furnished solely for guidance and information to the supplier (see 6.3). Variation from the Specification may appear in the sample, in which case the specification shall govern. 3.2 Preproduction sample approval. -

8、Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2) before production is commenced, a sample of the finished cap shall be submitted or made ready for the contracting officer, or his authorized representative, for inspection. The approval of the preproduction sample authorizes the commence- ment of production but d

9、oes not relieve the supplier of responsibility for compli- ance with ail applicable provisions of this specification. The preproduction sample shall be manufactured by the supplier in the same facillties to be used for the manufacture of the production item. 3.3 Materials. 3.3.1 Basic material,- The

10、 basic material shall be cloth, cotton, sateen) 3.3.2 Sweatband. - The cap sweatband shall be cut from the material specified carded, 00-107 (see 6.3), conforming to MIL-C-10296. in 3.3.1. 3.3.3 Thread,- The thread shaJl be cotton conforming to V-T-276; soft finish, 3.3.3.1 Color and colorfastness,

11、- The thread shall be dyed green shade S-4 type IA3, ticket No. 40, 3-ply. cable No. 66022. I)* or the flange only may be enamel

The eyelet shall conform to the following dimensions: Outside diameter of barrel, inch: .185 . 004 Outside diameter of flange, inch: . 312 k. 005 Length of barrel under flange, inch: .I45 2,004 Metal thickness, inch: .O08 2.001 3.3.5 Labels. - Each cap shall have a combination identification and

14、 size label conforming to type I, class 4 of DDD-L-20, except the content shall include the Name of Contractor. The label shaJi measure not less than 1-3/4 by 1-1/4 inches, with a minimum 1/4 inch margin at the top edge for sewing. The labels shall show fastness to laundering. Note: Size of characte

15、rs for “Name of Contractor“ shall be minimum 6 points (approximately 1/18 inch). 3.4 Desi. - The cap shall be the U. S. Marine Corps design shorn on 3.5 Ratterns. - Standard patterns will be furnished to the supplier by the Figure 1 attached (see 6.4). Government. The standard patterns shali not be

16、altered in any way and shall be used only as a guide or cutting the suppliers working patterns. The suppliers working patterns shail be identica.1 to the standard patterns. The standard patterns provide 1/4 inch seam allowance except as otherwise specified in Table I; show size and are marked or not

17、ched for the proper cutting, placement, and assembly of the component parts. 3.5.1 List of pattern parts. - Caps shall be cut from the specified materials in accordance with the pattern parts indicated: 1- Pattern parts 1. 18、 Construction, 3.6.1 Manufacturincr requirements. - The caps shall be manufactured in accordance with the operations and the stitch, seam, and stitching types speci- fied in Table I. 3.6.1.1 Operations. - The supplier is not required to follow the exact sequence of operations as listed in Table I bu

20、cified in Table I shall conform to FED. STD.NO. 751. Whenever two or more stitch or seam types are specified for the same operation, any one of them may be used. Where stitch type 401 is used, the looper (under thread) shall be on the inside of the cap. The number of stitches per inch as specified i

21、n Table I indicates the minimum and maximum number permitted. 3.6.1.2.1 Serse stitchins. - Serge stitching shall be done.on serging machines having a knjfe attachment properly set to trim the raveled edge without cutting the material. 3.6.1.2.2 Tackins and backstitchins. - Ends of seams and stitchin

22、g produced with 301 type stitch when not caught in other seams or stitching shall be back- stitched not less than 1/4 inch. Thread breaks (all stitch types) shaU be secured by stitching back of break not less than 1/2 hch. When stitch type 401 is used, ends of seams and stitching shall be caught in

23、other seams or stitching, and swpped stitches and thread breaks may be repaired using stitch type 301 back- stitched not less than 1/2 inch on each side of the skip or break. 3.6.1.3 Shade marking. - The component parts shall be marked to insure a uniform shade and size throughout the cap. Any metho

24、d of shade marking may be used except: (i) Corrosive metal deMces. (2) Sewion shade tickets. The front and back of the curtain shall not be creased. b. The spread at the top of the crown shall be evenly distributed on each side

41、of the cap. The sweatband shall not be exposed below the bottom edge of the cap. All pressing marks shall be removed. Attach eyelet to curtain, Finished appearance. - The eyelet shall be properly positioned and securely clinched on the insid.e of the curtain without distort- ing or cutting the mater

QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibilitv for inspection. - Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspec- tion requ

48、irements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified, the supplier may utilize his om facilities or any commercial laboratory acceptable to the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed nece

49、ssary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.2 Preproduction sample approval., - When required, preproduction inspec- tion and testing shall be performed on a completely fabricated cap or conform- ance to ali provisions o this specification. 4.3 Inspection. - Jnspection shall. be in accordance with MLSTD-105, except where otherwise indicated h
