Physical dimensions, weights, types of loads, and container configuration vary greatly, precluding the coverage of all combinations. It is th

22、eneral document and dash number sheets, establishes an approved method for loading and restraining ammuni tion and explosives in commercial intermodal containers utilizing a Internal Restraint System Kit (IRSKIT) . The IRSKIT consists of wood dunnage and specific hardware as shown in Figure 4. This

23、MIL-STD contains aeneral information and procedures common to al 1 commercial container loading operations utilizing IRSKIT, together with guidance to be followed when specific instructions for a particular commodity,in the form of MIL-STD dash number sheets do not exist. The MIL-STD dash number she

24、ets contain specifie instructions primarily for container loading ammunition normally shipped in large quantities. approved by the Bureau of Explosives (A.A.R.), the U.S. Coast Guard,and the Department of Defense for world wide intermodal transportation. The IRSKIT technique has been 1.2 Application

25、. Procedures shown in this standard may be sed by all personnel engaged for or by 5n when loading and dunnaging ammunition and explosives in commercial intermodal containers. It applies to shipments from one Government activity to another and, when required by contract, shipments to or from a contra

26、ctors plant. The IRSKIT method and the conventional all-wood dunnaging techniques such as those described in U.S. Army technical manual TM (Number Pending) are al ternative methods for restraining ammunition and explosives in commercial i ntermodal containers. 1.3 Compliance with law. The United Sta
